REVO Shaft Doubters, Got A Story For You

Well here we go again

I could ignore this but I just can't. I don't care if I would play better with it
or not or if it needed to be replaced and the new one is exactly the same
unlike wood or if the price went down to cheaper than wood. It doesn't
matter,if any one on here likes it you are stupid and a Communist and I
will hate you forever.

TRUE STORY:

I had occasion to be at a world renowned cue maker's shop in Marlborough, CT today.
I noticed he had a Revo shaft on his Pool table. I asked him if the jury was in yet on them. He picked it up, brought over a Pool ball, then wailed on the pool ball with the Revo several times like the ball owed him money. It was like a scene from Goodfellas.

Said cue maker then handed me the shaft and asked me to inspect it.
It was BE-YOND silky smooth. It was completely and totally unscathed.
Said cue maker then said it is without a doubt the most technologically advanced shaft on the market and nothing else comes close.
He went on to elaborate. I've been a DJ and am a Therapist so a lot of his engineering type language was lost on me but it was clear to me he thought there's nothing on the planet that can rival it.

Guess what I'm ordering today? -Z-

Next time I get a cue for beating up the balls, it will be a Revo LOL

:)
OP review aside John Schmidt is very happy with his new Revo (12.4 I believe), in past 2 weeks he had 4 300+ and about 15 other 200+ runs in 14.1 with Revo. On the other hand John is capable of running 100s even with hockey stick

Several people have run past those numbers using wood shafts.....lol

Just get a cue, get used to it, and you can - eventually - play as good as anyone.
I have a Revo shaft and get beat all the time by guys using cheap house cues and Walmart/Target cues...:) :)

Long as the cue is straight you'll be fine.

After hitting with both a Revo and a Mezz ExPro, personally, I settled on the ExPro. The Revo hit great to me but I just couldn't get past the black shaft and I seemed to lose sight from tip to cueball.
I feel the ExPro plays very similar to the Revo while maintaining the look and feel I am used to.

Brian, are you aware how angry you come off?
Why do you care what I think or why I think it?
No one in this thread, least of all me, has instructed you or told you to do anything, so why so argumentative & defensive?
There's an expression, don't sweat the small stuff. You may wish to try it out.
If you don't want to get a Revo shaft, good for you. Go with God. Best, -Z-

Hard to tell tone and delivery in a post but you have this pegged all wrong, I'm the most easy going, laid back Cat you'll ever meet. Not angry, not upset, actually don't care, just pointing out a reason to purchase something I thought was odd/misguided, along with a bunch of other posts to that same effect. I also won't go with God, don't have time for that silly, fairy tale stuff. How bout Peace Out, Brian.

Well there is the issue, OH MY GOD, this guy ran 4 racks with that NEW CUE, I need it also!!! Wait, that's Earl, he can run 4 with a shoe lace.

I have yet to see anyone I know play better with any new equipment they got. They may like it, they may be comfortable with it, but they are not winning any more with it.

Agree, carbon fiber fishing rods are notoriously known to break suddenly on a tiny previous fracture. Revo is far from indestructible in that respect, we just need to wait a couple of years to see.

Similarly, motorcycle helmets.

Modern helmets (not fiberglass) made of multiple layers of polymers, carbon fiber, etc, are not considered safe if you have dropped them. If you drop the helmet you are supposed to have it professionally inspected or replace it. Nobody does that, of course.

The risk is that the helmet might disintegrate on impact if there are any tiny fractures from dropping it.

If the helmet has been in a crash you are just supposed to dispose of it.

When have to wear a helmet, for example riding to Georgia, it's fiberglass. I can beat the living daylights out of it and not worry about it falling apart.

Tell Paul I said hello!

Paul D. really did that? He's a fantastic cue make I'd agree.
Tell him Joey say's hello.

I apologize, sincerely, for getting your tone wrong. Peace out is cool with me.
Thanx for taking the time to clarify.

What I really liked about the shaft was the smoothness & composition of it. I'm one of those annoying players who has to wash his hands circa every 45 mins to an hour because otherwise the shaft stops moving smoothly through my bridge hand. Given the smoothness and composition of the shaft, It occurred to me, perhaps incorrectly, that I might not feel the need to wash my hands as often. More so than any improved accuracy or overall performance (real or perceived), that's what I valued. Maybe that's weird, but at the same time I would imagine I'm not the only one. Some may not have this issue or value the relief from it. That's cool. Again, thanks for explaining. Best, -Z-

Wasnt there a cue maker that advertised how strong his joint was by straddling the cue atop 2 cinder blocks, and then standing on it? I also seem to remember another one who would ram a cue joint pin first into plywood to prove how strong his pin was.

Always reminded me of the krazy glue commercials with the construction worker.

Ernie Omori was getting people to stand on his full splice butt between two chairs up at Lincoln City a couple of years ago. I declined. Not sure if it ever broke but I noticed he isn't doing it any more:smile:

I have been using the 12.9 and just ordered a 12.4 to see if there is any difference. I am quite curious as to which I will like better. My old precat 314's were approx. 12.5 and I used them for many many years....

Hey Russ, I had the 12.4 for about 2 months, traded it for a 12.9 and love it even more.
