Reyes vs. Blomdalh videos! 9-ball and 3-cushion!

Fantastic matchup. Thanks for posting it.

The best pool player versus the best 3C player playing both games. I can't think of that ever happening before ... except when Harold Worst played alone.

Sorry, couldn't resist that play on the JFK quote (in the White House dining room full of Nobel Prize winners, JFK said never before had so much talent been assembled in this room since Thomas Jefferson dined alone).

I won't give away the endings except to say that both are better than I would have thought at the other player's game.

did it seem like efren was showboating to anybody else? especially in 9 ball

I would rather categorize it as playing for the crowd rather than showboating. it was an exhibition match so it should be an entertaining and a fun match! :D

Who's the dork that a while back said that Efren plays 3-c at the amateur level?

Yes Efren did lose the 9ball, but it looked like Blomdahl was getting more open shots than him. I wish I could have seen a few safeties in the 9ball. I would love to see how incredible Blomdahl kicks.

Thanks again Steven!!

If Blohmdahl played 9-ball full time he'd be in the top ten players in the world.

Efren plays pretty good 3 cushion. From the video however it's clear that Torbjorn is leagues above Efren in 3c. Efren struggled to run 2s and Blohmdahl never opened up until the middle of the game.

I didn't think Efren was showboating in 9 ball. He really showed his class to come back and run racks, tougher outs, right back at Blohmdahl.

My take on this is that Blohmdahl is going to win all the 3 cushion matchups and a fair number of the 9 ball matchups. I don't think anyone wants a part of Blohmdahl at one-pocket either IF he has a bit of a chance to learn the game.

That can only be settled if Blomdahl plays 9-ball and 1-pocket in tournaments. otherwise, it will remain a big question to be answered. drawing assumptions or conclusions from an exhibition match is no guarantee how a player will fair in a real one. There is no doubt that Blomdahl is a legend in 3-cushion carom, but 9-ball and 1-pocket are another disciplines that does not only just involve carom shots with 3 balls, but an assortment of shots involving multiple balls. ;)

ask any 3c player about where efren's 3c level is. where's ira when we need him? he'd give you an honest opinion.

there is one kick you may have missed. it was blomdahl's first shot on the 1 in video#2 where the cb goes two rails, caroms off another ball and goes downtable...efren applauded the hit.

i believe blomdahl has a european 9b championship to his credit. and he also plays snooker. i don't know the level at which he plays, though.

No, as far as I know Blomdahl has never competed in 9-ball European Championships, he has played at least once in Eurotour, but didn't finish high enough to mention. My friends witnessed his 9-ball matches and said that his position play was excellent and you wouldn't dream about getting a ball in hand after hooking him. :)

The story on Efren goes that when he started playing he started dominating the pool scene quite early in his career in the Philippines and then he started playing 3c and within a year or two all 3c players refused to play against him so he moved back to pool.
