I knew that lyric was unfinished!axejunkie:
"I see the blind lead the blind
In the search for the mind
But I know what they'll find
and it's gonna be a grind
to examine humankind
it will put you in a bind
before the contract's signed"
Lol....good one. But I needed a break shaft anyway and this one was less $ than I could get in old school wood. Also, I'm using the word "needed" cuz it's helpful in my marriage...axejunkie:

Its not $250 worse i can tell you that. I'd prefer not to pay for Pred's advertising budget, sponsoring players, etc. That's the shit that drives up prices, just like golf clubs. Revo is a fine shaft but it and other 'big name' shafts are way over-priced.Update on my end: I played a bunch of racks with the shaft. I do now believe the deflection is higher than a Revo. It's close, but higher. A lifelong Predator player may not want the change. I did not do specific deflection tests, just going by the shots I made vs the shots I missed. I may do some specific tests to find the pivot point of this and my 314's and Revo's later. For me personally, I'll probably keep buying Predator. YMMV.
By that logic, we’d all be using Mali cues with LePro tips till today. Its not $250 worse i can tell you that. It’s not just advertising. I’ll say it again: since 1994 or whenever the 314 came out, no manufacturer has matched Predator’s low deflection. In both the wood days and now the CF days.
This Rhino is close. It’s the best value by far for CF. But it’s not for a lifelong Predator player, imo. Any other player I’d say it’s a strong buy.
Predator started, and continuously led, two revolutions in pool: The low deflection hollow shaft era. And the carbon fiber era.
That’s not just marketing mumbo jumbo.
My results were oppositeBuddy bought the playing shaft and said it plays exactly like his revo but has a different sound. He put a different tip on it now and is trying it for breaking duty.
See my review of the 12.5 Rhino here, where I measure its deflection compared to a Cynergy 12.5 (and the numbers for the Revo are out there, 19" I believe)Does anyone know how the deflection compares to similar diameter Predator shafts?
21.5mm. is their standard. My Schuler is 22mm, and they said they can do that for a smidge more.My Mezz is .840ish. Shaft fits very close, just a smidge off. Nothing to sweat. Site says 'perfect fit with a 21.5mm joint' That is .846"
what i tried, unsuccessfully i guess, is to say that much of Predator's price goes into paying their huge advertising/promotion budget. the Revo is easily $150+ overpriced. they've recouped all their development costs by now, more like a couple yrs ago, and are making a killing on their shafts. Predator has done a good job building their cult-like following. Everything they peddle is over-priced but they get it from their fans. Ping golf clubs are same thing, overpriced but have legions of fans.By that logic, we’d all be using Mali cues with LePro tips till today.

I respect your opinion. I'll just agree to disagree. In everything in life there are various price points. The price point does not need to reflect manufacturing cost, or company overall overhead (marketing, RD, operations, etc.) Predator products are worth every cent, IMO, and in the opinions of hundreds of thousands of players worldwide.what i tried, unsuccessfully i guess, is to say that much of Predator's price goes into paying their huge advertising/promotion budget. the Revo is easily $150+ overpriced. they've recouped all their development costs by now, more like a couple yrs ago, and are making a killing on their shafts. Didn't have a REVO at hand but i did have a bud's Ignite which is very lo-squirt. The Rhino has a tiny bit more deflection than the Mezz and about the same as a 12.5Cynergy. I would never pay the extra 250+ for such a small difference in deflection. The Mezz is nearly 600 retail, that's insane. It’s higher than a Revo.
