I keep hearing rumors that Richard Benson passed away? Can anyone confirm this?

I really hope not, I enjoy when he comes to visit and brings some cues around. Matter of fact 90% of the big names in this area own at least one Benson. I think I read about him passing away on a PNW forum., but you know how rumors are.
This post suggests that he has passed away. Or that is what goin2bepro was told when he was researching his Rich Benson cue.

I was told by the old man at Global Billiard supply in Spokane Wa that he had passed. CORRECTION!!!!! Just got off the phone with a former dealer of his. He is still alive. He had a bout with cancer but he won. He has stopped making cues though. Sorry for any misunderstandings. I feel like an a$$ but it was completely unintentional.

Good news!!! I remember lots of guys in Alaska using Benson sneakies & loved them. They were really nice cues.

A couple years back, I was attempting to contact Rich Benson and found out that he passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. I had a custom made Bensen (61") with a 12.50 mm shaft and wanted another shaft made. That is when I found out he passed. I have tried many cues since, Predator, McDermott, and other custom cues and it is difficult to find a cue that hit like a "Benson."
Benson has not passed, saw him a few months back. He is looking much better but retiring from cue making.
