I Used To Own Alot Of Richards Cues, And Had A Few Double Ovals Through The Years. Just To Be Curious, What Makes This One A 1 Of 1?

So this one have a solid ivory butt also each flower is differnt an unique handengraved.
The silverrings have all an polished surface.

I was told that this is one of Richards Calender Cues.
The Signature on the Joint shows 10/03 so this should be the Calendercue from October 2003.

I'M NOT SAYING IT ISN'T, I'M JUST CURIOUS. THE IVORY JOINTED ONES I HAD WERE ALSO NUMBERED, AND 1 HAD AN IVORY BUTT CAP. I THOUGHT ALL THE FLOWERS WERE DIFFERENT BUT CAN'T REMEMBER.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND, I'M NOT DISAGREEING, I'M JUST LOOKING TO LEARN SOMETHING.

IT'S A GORGEOUS CUE.

Hey Marcus,

i just can say what i was told about it.

But you may can see the diffrent between the matt silverrings on the JP and the polished surface Silverworks on the cue. The pics wont bring out the shine of the polished surface.... sorry for that but i have try to do my best to the pics.:o

First off I have to say thank you for the excellent detail pictures. I've never seen a Double Oval cue in person, but have wanted one for years based his old brochure. Now I've GOT to get one! Absolutely beautiful!!!

I've known Richard Black since 1999. My main cue collection is Richard Black cues (currently 19). I just wanted to clear up a few points:

Unless requested otherwise, all of the Double Oval cues Richard makes have the same Ivory butt your cue has. The cue butt pictured on his website is identical.

There is no such thing as a "Calender Cue". The numbers on the joint are simply Richard's own cue numbering system. He engraves those on his higher end cues. Your cue was the 10th cue he made in 2003. If you email him asking, he will tell you the same thing.

I wouldn't call it a 1 of 1. But I would call it 1 stunning cue!

THERE ACTUALLY CALENDER CUES..... RICHARD PRODUCED CUE CALENDARS, AND THE CUES USED IN THOSE PICTURES HAVE BEEN SOLD BY SOME AS "CALENDER" CUES.

I AGREE ON THE NUMBERING SYSTEM, AND YOU'RE ACURATE ABOUT IT'S USAGE.

BUT, I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT FOR BERNY THAT THERE WERE/ARE "CALENDER" CUES.

P.S. I HAD A GREAT RELATIONSHIP WITH RICHARD AS WELL, AT ONE POINT I HAD OVER 30 OF HIS CUES, AND HAD MANY OTHERS GO THROUGH MY HANDS. SO I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP OUT OF NOWHERE. I WILL ALSO SAY THAT I NEVER HEARD RICHARD CALL THE BY THE "CALENDER" NAME.

I'VE

Interesting. That's the first time I've heard about Richard doing his own calenders. I'll have to ask him about that the next time I talk to him.

Beautiful cue either way.

I HAVE ONE, IF NOT 2 SOMEWHERE. IF HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY MORE, I MAY CONSIDER SELLING MINE. HE DIDN'T PRODUCE THEM IN HIGH VOLUMES, JUST THAT HE GAVE THEM TO HIS COLLECTORS.

Richard has made several Oval cues.. Many of them have slight differences..
Some could be 1 of 1..
Mine was made for Jack Coliva..
All of them are beautiful..
Best,
