Richard black anniversary cues. What are they worth?

Hey all I was looking at buying a cue from a guy that got quite a few cues out of a private collection. The very mint Rauenzhan I was looking at buying unfortunately sold but the seller mentioned he had purchased these two Richard Black's and wasn't sure what the ball park value was. I told him I could reach out to the knowledgeable people of this forum and see.

Any idea on values for these?

I’m not sure, I was talking to someone the other day about this. I think he retired. I sure hope he’s ok. I have a 3 of his cues. None of the real hi-end ones.
I talked to Richard a while back and he said he wasn't touching any cues that went for less than 5 thousand.

Wow mine are nowhere near that level, I had one that was 6k once. Played horrible, looked amazing. Sold it :(

I have a 1990 special Richard Black Bushka that looks and plays amazing. It's really a wonderful cue. I do not plan on selling it.

As for value, tough to say. Here's one from 2009 that was listed for $4800

One where a $3500 value was mentioned

One where asking was $5K

Another $3500

My guess is $3500 - $3750 is more in line with what you can expect with the right buyer, and I would expect to have to wait for the cue to be sold for a while. A more aggressive $2600 - $3000 might move it faster. Richard is known for designs, but his execution is sometimes not as good as other makers (and that's coming from someone who has one of his cues and loves it very much), and playability is totally subjective.

Bill at Cornerstone cues deals with a lot of Richard's cues. You may want to reach out to him separately.

Thanks for all the info. Should help the seller out. I agree with you on cornerstone he really knows his stuff with high end cues.

Too bad you missed out on the Jerry R. cue. He really was a fabulous cue maker
and such a stickler about detailed work. I always found him fun to just chat with.

I should have jumped on it. It appeared unplayed. I'll likely not come across a finer example.

Emailed Richard a couple days ago about ordering a Bushka that's under 3k. He said it would be done within 6 months.
Still building a few by that response.

I was the under the impression that a cue like that will not be built by Richard - did you confirm with him who would build the cue?

Ask him if HE is building it.

He has a guy who builds cues for him.

I decided not to order the cue so didn't ask. He has a guy that does the repair work though.
