Richard Black Thread

I just thought I would share some pics of my 91 Black Baron by Richard Black. Just received this cue in a trade and let me tell you...IT IS A MONSTER!

Cue is in VERY good condition for it's age. Both shafts have very little play on them, and the wrap shows some wear, otherwise it is MINT!

Enjoy the pics and appreciate you sharing pics of your Black's as well.

My second custom cue. . . . . made in 1980, refinished by Richard in 2004.

Richard Black Cue

Here is my 1983 Richard Black 4-point cue, refinished and rewrapped in 2006 by AnnieO. Used to be Irish linen - now it is clear coat over real python snake skin.

:D

Here is my lateist offering from Richard. It is sweet. It has the sweetest piece of curly maple and snakewood anyone could ask for.

1994 Bankmaster Richard Black

Here's one that is 60" and hits lights out solid!! I asked Richard Black recently who the Bankmaster cue was built for and he hasn't returned my email yet. Maybe I'll send him a link to this thread so he can respond.
I love the hit of this cue!!

Here's another one of Richard's cues that also hits a ton. His cues are awesome. The inlays and workmanship are really precise.

Thanks for looking.

do any of these cues play well? My experiences with Richard Black are generally not that good in the playability department. On eseveral occassions, they were a little off in the craftsmanship department too. Not trying to knock anyone's cues here. They're all very nice. But, I hear so many people sing Richard's praises and I have yet to truly see why!

My RB cue =]

I'm currently using this cue of Richard's made back in the late 80's early 90's as my playing cue....

Awesome playing cue -- easy on the eyes too! A special thanks to Bill at Cornerstone for hooking me up!!! ;)

I started playing pool in 1988. In 1990, I bought a Richard Black cue, plain 4 point, 4 veneer with the Blue, Green Black veneer pattern, no inlays. 2 shafts, both ivory ferruled. Paid $250 for it and thought I had been raped at the time because it was 2 weeks pay for me then. And yup, sold it for $300 the first time I went broke in the pool room.

That thing played like a DREAM. Since it was my first custom cue, I thought all custom cues were that good and that I could always buy another one.

Still to this day have not found one NOR made one myself that plays quite like that. If I could pay $1000 and have that cue back right now, I'd whip the cash and not even think about it for 2 seconds.

As far as cases go, the Predator leather 2 X 4 with jump butt zipper are the nuts for $250. How can you go wrong?? They are solid, well built, and look great besides. Yes, I love em and have 9 of them now. They work great for storage and keep those older more valuable cues well protected.

How much do they weigh empty? Just curious...
