Richard Black trade???

Hello everyone.

Lately, I have ben playing with my cue more and more. As such, my beautiful early Richard Black has been sitting in the case.

I love the black- the classic look and feel, but the shafts are a bit whippy for my taste. I am also toying with the idea of having Richard make me a couple more shafts for it, a bit (well, a LOT) stiffer.

At the same time, I have a desire to own a Tascarella. But, I want/need a 59" one. I don't have the cash on hand to call Peter and commision one (although I suspect a long wait is at hand anyway) but if someone out there has one, and is interested in a rather unusual early Black, I'd like to talk.

Also, to sweeten the deal (if needed) I have a somewhat rare Omega Seamaster GMT (white face) wrist watch that is is good order; however is in need of it's 5-year service. I ended up buying a new Planet Ocean so this beautiful watch is just sitting, like the Black, not getting the love it deserves.

So, if any of this drivel sounds at all interesting, please PM me and we can chat. Thanks for reading!

Still interested in doing this trade for a Tascarella, if anyone has one and is interested.

Please note that Richard has made two more shafts for this cue (13.25mm) Ivory ferrules, OLD GROWTH, DARKER MAPLE STOCK per my request...

One shaft played with (I'd say 'test hit' but that'd be a lie as I couldn't stop once I started!) the other as-delivered, including poorly shaped tip!

I posted the Watch in the for sale section as well, so you can see that, with the assorted bracelets that come with it. (I will install the one you want on there for shipping).

So, if we can do this, I'd like to...

PS Richard also verified and appraised the cue for me while he had it (letters from him will be included in trade). "Replacement value" (although you can never get a new 1979 cue again) is set at $2,000.00 by Richard. The new shafts were nearly $500.00 for the pair.

Well once again, I think there should be a form to fill out with the information.

Anyway, need to know shaft diameter at tip.

So does this cue now come with (4) shafts? 2 old and 2 new?

Ferrells are ivory? LBM?

I dont want a watch, hell I cant even tell time.

I have to mic the original shafts, as I have not done so in years...

Those are also Ivory, just as the new ones are. Diameter is less than 13mm on both of them (which is why I had the new ones made); one is un-played since new triangle tips were installed years ago, the other has plenty of play on it (but no abuse of course!)

Wrap is real Cortland linnen. Cue was refinished in 2004 I think... Not positive on that. VERY well done, and from memory has no damage to that finish (but I will verify that as well).

I will get updated pictures of everything and weights- hopefully tomorrow as I don't have the cue with me right now.

NOTE: This is an early, and unusual cue. Even Richard was suprised when he made the new shafts, as he typically joints the cue dead center as most makers do. This one has over-length shafts (all four), which is very unusual... If desired, the original shafts could be cut down to make it a 58 inch cue with two new over-length shafts...

Hello.

Cue was made in 1979-1980 time frame; Richard himself could not nail down an exact date. It has the 5/16-18 joint that he used for a short time. He just had it in his hands and provided a letter to me verifying it.

Cue outright with four shafts is $2,500.00
