Richard Sweet Memorial Updates ? Mr.Cues Atlanta/Chamblee GA

I really don't like the smoke but it wasn't any worse than any other pool room. I had to "wash" my eyes a few times a day using Bausch and Lomb drops. Don't know how bad that is for your eyes but it seems to help me and I only use them at pool room tournaments.

Wish we had met. Maybe next time.

Yeah, I think I missed you, I got in real late about midnight. I know the smoke isn't bad for a pool hall. But I went from being in that environment 5 hours every day on average for 10 years, to playing once every 3 months in the last 3 years. So I'm not very used to it anymore.

This was such a great event. All I can say is WOW!!! I am soo happy I got to see many old friends and acquaintances plus make many more. There were tons upon tons of players ans spectators and all the events ran extremely smooth for the amount of players and with having 2 100+ player events going on at the same time on Sunday. Terrie Janis seemed to do the bulk of the TD work and I think she did an excellent job of managing the flow of play.
I am already looking forward to next year...

On a side note. I was showing off my Elephant Ear wrap on my Steve Lomax cue to a guy by the Lomax booth and Steve noticed a crack in the finish on the butt of my cue. He asked me to leave my cue with him after the event so he could refinish it free of charge ( I personally never even noticed the crack). He said he would have it in the mail back to me this week. WOW again!! A BIG thumbs up to Steve Lomax for excellent customer service and for building a great cue. I won my 1st 3 matches in the 10-ball using it. THANKS Steve!!

"Simonis Cloth Classic Tours

The Simonis Cloth Tours, Richard Sweet Memorial Tournament Report.

We had over 400 Player Entries again this year at the Simonis Cloth Tours - Richard Sweet Memorial Tournament, hosted by Mr Cues II in Atlanta, GA.

All players and fans in attendance had a great time. There was tons of action, tons of cue raffles (8) and tons of great tournament play with some that yielded stories that will last a lifetime.

Larry Nevel won both the Thursday night and Friday night winner-take-all, race to 3 king of the hill mini events. Larry is a true champion and showed a lot of heart and composure to win these. Cangrats Larry, you played great. Additionally, Larry finished 4th in the 118 player main 10-Ball Event.

Phil Miles Burford from Darlington in the UK took home the main 10-ball event title. If you are like me you are probably asking yourself "Who in the world is Phil Miles Burford?" Well, Phil is a pleasant young gentleman (age 21) from the UK.. He has an awesome accent, he is very polite and is a great person to converse with. Oh and he plays 1 heck of a great game of pool. Phil went undefeated in the 118 player, race to 7, alternating break 10-ball event, defeating one of Americas strongest and best loved players ever, Johnny Archer 7-3 in the finals. Archer made it to the finals after an early loss to Shawn Putnam in the 2nd round matches and grinding his way through the losers bracket to once again play Shawn Putnam in the Semi-Finals and only narrowly defeating him 7-6. Putnam played extremely consistent in all 4 of the events this past weekend as he placed tied for 3rd in the single elimination Thursday night mini 8-ball event and placed 2nd in the Friday night mini 9-ball event and 3rd in the main 10-ball event but was too distracted by his continuing play in the 10-ball event on Sunday to do any real damage is the Sunday 9-ball event. However Mr. Putnam did come up against Phil Burford in the 9-ball mini event on Sunday and handed Mr, Burford a whopping defeat in that event all the while eliminating Mr. Burford from the Sunday mini event.

Thank you to all our sponsors, all of the players and fans that participated in the event and to Mr Cues for continuing a great tradition of promoting our sport. We look forward to seeing all of you at the 4th Annual Richard Sweet Memorial Event on June 27th - June 30th, 2013.

Mike and Terrie Janis"

I'm sick after being there last night. Throat is all sore. Not sure if its just the smoke that bothered me, or I caught something. Wish I had a table at my place... end rant:)

It's from the smoke ... i feel the same way ....

Was not the smoke. There was a guy there with a sore throat bug. If you were near him you got it.

Well, it definitely wasn't the smoke. I've been sick all week. Sore throat, and today I woke up to a headache, stuffed nose, and stuffed ears. Today I feel the worst. Realizm, Seneca Steve, did you guys get unluckily and catch it too?

I was there all 4 days and didn't catch anything. The smoke wasn't bad until I smelled it on my clothes after getting back home then it gave me a headache. But I must have shook a hudred hands and luckily I dind't catch a cold.

I hope you feel better soon.
