Had some time to hang out there yesterday , as always Mike Janis had packed the house with players from all over the south east. Tommy K., Joey A.,Archer ,Nevel, Putnam, Shuffett ,Moore and many many other top locals.
I am thinking about riding back over to sweat a bit of the action tonight .Has anyone else posted or started a update thread ? When I left last night the 10 ball was still going strong and yet another 9 ball tournament will start some time today .

Matt,
I left about an hour ago. They started the 10 ball back at 11:00 this morning and I believe there are 6 or 8 left on the winners and a handfull on the losers. They started the 9 ball today about 1:30 and had 93 or 94 players in it.

I don't know how but we keep missing each other .We will meet and catch up sooner or later .I had a blast sat night , got to go eat with Hank aka Rocky and Joey A. Tried to give Lomax a break , I always hang out over there and he is in the process of making my cue ......never rush an artist :grin-square: Even though I did not play in the tournament I got to meet alot of folks and get to know a few even more.We did rent a table and I played Joey A. and Rocky a few games in between there matches .We had one of the hottest if not the hottest weekend on record so it was a good weekend to stay inside and enjoy the weekend with friends .

Very good MatLock,
I was looking for an update on the action at Mr. Cues II. You did just that too. I wanted to go, but I had to work and could not make it up there. JoeyA told me he was going and a few other players said the same. I sure miss not being there this year. I wanted to meet a few new world Lock Society members too. That includes you Dr 9, and several others.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Buford beat Archer in the 10 ball finals. Buford came from the winner's side, and beat Archer the first set, 7-2 I believe. I didn't see him miss one ball the whole set.

In the 9 ball finals, it was Claude Marrier from Canada vs Tommy Kennedy. Claude was on the winner's side and Tommy would have to beat him twice. I went elsewhere in the room and didn't see the outcome of this match.

Man I wish I knew there was something like that going on I would of took the two hour drive to see that

me too......would have gone there if i knew....went to mbc and it was not open @ noon yesterday (?), so i could have just kept driving and checked out the scene. :frown:

u from this area?

I'm guessing

My best guess is around 4 am last night the tournament was over .Does anyone happen to know who got 1st,2nd,3rd in the 10 ball and the last 9 ball event ??? I think there were 116 playing in the 10 ball and well over 100 in 9 ball. The small 8 ball tournament on thursday had 80+ players.

It finished at 4:30 am on the nose.

Tim Orange (local) got 3rd for sure on the 9 ball.

Archer beat Putnam in the 10 ball one loss side finals to get into the finals, so Putnam got 3rd.

Nevel was still fighting towards the end of one of the tournaments also.

I'm sick after being there last night. Throat is all sore. Not sure if its just the smoke that bothered me, or I caught something. Wish I had a table at my place... end rant:)

The Ten Ball event cost $10 to play. The Nine Ball event cost $10 to play. NO FEES WHATSOEVER. I would never go to a tournament and not play at those prices. Even if you get spanked you get in $10 worth of pool time. And the real players don't mind having an easy draw.

I really don't like the smoke but it wasn't any worse than any other pool room. I had to "wash" my eyes a few times a day using Bausch and Lomb drops. Don't know how bad that is for your eyes but it seems to help me and I only use them at pool room tournaments.

Wish we had met. Maybe next time.
