Hello all, I recently acquired a 1994 Rick Howard playing cue. Most of the Rick Howard's I have owned have had a 5/16 pin, but this one is, I think, a 3/8 11. I am not sure, but I have a 3/8 10 that is not quite the right size. Does anyone know if he used a pin like this back in the day? Thanks in advance, Matt

It is most likely 3/8 - 11. I have the same pin on my Rick Howard playing cue. If you do not like the pin, let me know. I am always in the mood to pick up an available Howard.

Thanks, Iba. I actually really like the hit, I just happened to get it by bidding (what I thought was) low on it. I am in the process of determining whether I want to keep it or not.

I have a 94, 92 and an unknown, all of which have 3/8-10 pins. I think the early cues were all that way, unless specificed by the customer.

I've never encountered a Rick Howard player with 5/16 pin, only the Mace Jump/Break cues that have the 5/16-18 pin.

I originally thouight it might be a 3/8-10, but my that is what my Gilbert is, and it is definitely not a match. Thus the guess that it is a 3/8-11. It is a 94.

If the pin has a flat-nose Southwest style pin it is definitely a 3/8-11 pin. I don't know when Rick went exclusively to that pin, but like I said I have a 94 that's a 3/8-10. Of course someone could have order that pin special. I don't know.

I love my Rick Howards. Keep it, you'll love it too. I'm sure.

Even though I have had at least one of Rick's cues for 10 years or so, I had no idea he was this popular, lol. There is actually a decent chance that I will sell or raffle it here on AZ. Like I told a buddy who said the same thing in a pm, I like it, but I have been playing with my current (Gilbert) cue for 5 years, and I am leaning towards sticking with it. Now I would just have to figure out what I would sell it for, lol. Thanks for the interest, Ken, and I will probably post something here if I ever figure out what it is worth. Like I said, I bought it for well under what I figured it had to be worth as a straight, 4 point, birdseye/ebony cue from Rick would be worth, but to be honest, I don't really know. I have really only bought a bunch of maces in the past, this is the first player of his that I have had.

Here is the pics, hopefully:o

It worked. Easy huh?

That looks like the old 3/8-10 pins that I have seen on a few other cues. Some 3/8-10 pins aren't the same as your Gilbert.
