Ridge Back Rails

Glen, I will be getting a hold of you for some rails. Can you make them for Shelties? By the way, i here these rails are so good that a highly respected table manufacture, may start carrying them.
Thanks, Ron

Hey, I'm sure you guys are familiar with the old Valleys with the green finish and the decorate cabinet. Do they take a particular style rail, or just the same old thing as the other Valleys? There's a couple of them around town here, and I've got someone who has expressed interest in having his rails replaced. Thanks for the info!

Green? Got a picture? Never seen 'em. If it's a bolt on (1/4-20 machine thread) we make 'em. If it's a wood screw type, we make those too. If it's the 10/24 (3/16-24) made for a year or so, we can help. MMMMMM....green? Just cant recall.

I also like the Ridgeback rails. Great inserts, sturdy subrail, good cushion adhesion, nice facing and there notched for those who like to put folds in the side pocket.

K-66 for the green tables.
Thanks, Ron

Rails, not rubber profile. ;) I'm more worried about the rail bolt configuration and whether any ole 7' Valley rail will fit or if those took a particular one.

Still don't have pictures of the green table yet, but I'm looking.

Josh, I thinkg Scruffy posted something from valley on how to install the new rails on old valley tables. it stated you widen the hole on the slate side of the rail so the rail bolt has play. Not sure of the specifics but maybe Scruffy will repost it or you can search for it.

Contact info.

Anyone have the contact info for the company that makes these rails I would like to buy some.

Thanks

Josh, If it takes k-66 and it is a Valley then it is the same as all the rest.
Ron.

Valley NEVER USED K66 until the merge with Dynamo in 2001! U23 till 1988 and then K55. Go to www.penguinamusement.com or call me at 866 772 3636
Go back and look at our post about Valley rail confusion. The whole issue is covered in depth. I still dont know what table you have when you say it's green. From 67-69 it was Rosewood. From 69-72 the tables were Walnut. From 73-75 they were white. (first part of the run had white corners and the second part had Walnut corners) From 75-77 they were Pecan, 77-78 Makoru (dark walnut color) 79-81 Birdseye maple, 82-85 Cheyenne Leather 86-90 Classic Mahogany. In1991 the tables were Sable maple until 1994 when the tables were changed to Summit Ash. 1997through 2001 Taj Teak. At this point the tables were model ZD7. Halfway through the run the company moved the manufacturing to Texas (Mexico) and this is when the OOOOOPS! occurred. The drilling on the 7 foot rails changed. (Please go back and look for the Valley rail confusion thread)
The other thing to note is that the ZD7 had squared-off corner castings. Every Valley up to this point had rounded corners. In 2002 through 2006 the tables were Jewel Mahogany and starting in 2006 the tables were Biltmore Cherry. So maybe the green table is one of their short-lived home tables?

That wasnt Scruffy. Look for the thread labeled Valley rail confusion 101. To get the old 93's to mount on a new table or new 93's to mount on an old table you will need to drill the table. All four holes adjacent to the side pockets should be drilled from the inside of the table toward the outside with a 3/8" bit. The rails will have to be forced either up or down (depends on whether youre installing old on new or new on old) about 1/16 to 3/32". Or you could just buy the right rails and talk to someone who actually knows. My number is 866 772 3636

You can find a wealth of info for Valley and Dynamo here -

The FAQ has a lot of details -

Fred has also provided some details you may not find on the Valley site.

If you're talking about the 1/8" offset in the t-nuts being off centered Fred, I was building them with "that" offset back in 1986 to match the same screw up Valley made;) All the replacement rails I built had K66 cushions, as it's the cushion blocks in combination with the cushions that have to match up with the top rails on a Valley table, as long as it matches the bolt pattern, and the cushions are at the correct height/width, that's all that matters.

Fred, what kind of glue do you install your cushions with to the cushion blocks?

glue

I asked Fred that, before and he told me contact cement. He did not give me a brand. I know it is not Scotch weld, because i have seen them come apart. Hey, Glen how about the Shelty?
Thanks, Ron

I think he switch to white glue, I did a table yesterday with recently new penguin rails. I had to replace a insert and got it out without the cushion coming apart from the subrail.
