Ring game rules question

We always played NO SAFETY ... you get what you get.

With this is mind we did have trouble with folks wanting to step away for a time & link back in, behind the weak player. That went away in a hurry..

ring games ive played in are (almost) always played with 2 stipulations....

1. you must make an honest effort to hit next designated ball..

2. its the incoming player option to give it back if no hit occurs (no limit) or A scratch b.i.h. behind the line.

We don't allow safeties but we also don't have a remedy for them besides ostracism or the option if it's a foul.

I've been in ring games where the guy in front of me never made a ball unless he had a clear path to run out.

A good rule would be incoming player has the option of giving the shot back if he can't see the object ball. To me the easiest way to get hustled in pool is a ring game.

It's a good idea to change the order every 10 games. The player that makes the 9 in the 10th game will naturally go first in the new order. Remaining players reflip or draw pills for order.

A good game for 3 players is 5-7-9 with a single payout, like $5, $10, $20 or whatever. The money balls are the 5, 7, and 9. But instead of paying per ball, simply pay one amount. If you make one money ball you break even, two gets you the payout from the player that pocketed no money balls. Make all three you get the payout from the other two players. Makes a good hassle-free friendly game with a $5 payout. A $20 or more payout makes for great action!

I would be interested in obtaining 9 ball ring game rules.
I want them for an app I wrote to keep score of Ring Games.

It's called: Blind Squirrel's Ring Game. (watch the video explaining the app)

I've played ring games for many years and the rules vary from town to town.
I'd like to create a "Basic Standardized Set of Rules" (which will always be modified by players anyway), to help Newbie's understand the Basic Rules, which would help to promote billiards in general...

Please attach your version of the rules.
I will go over them all and "hopefully" write a set that everyone can be happy with!

Thanks,
BS

We always paid off $ balls at the end of the inning or rack if the player got out. Settled up, never put the score on the wire. Cash only!

Good luck with your project.

Honest effort was the rules we played by

Dude, stop the thread dredge. You've bumped at least three threads that are at least five years old to ask one question.
