Ring Games

It’s almost time for the Ring Games at the Derby City Classic again! On Friday night, Jan.5th, 2007 at 8 pm we’ll start the Bank Pool Ring Game. Entry fee is $3,000 and this time there will only be five players. I already have two, so if you wish to play, get a deposit sent out. As usual it’s first come, first served.
Sat. evening, the 6th will be the 10 Ball ring game. It also will have a $3,000 entry fee and 5 players and is scheduled to begin at 8 pm.
Greg Sullivan kindly takes care of your room and entry fees for the three tournaments. The players do have to take care of their own buy backs. This is well over a $1,000 value.
A couple of players who wanted to play in the Ring Games in the past have missed out because they weren’t aware of them. Perhaps they don’t have a computer or they’re just out of the loop, so if you would pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested, please do so.
I will be posting info about these games periodically, but if you really want to play you MUST get me a deposit. Don’t put it off and miss out.
There will also be a newly created “Denny Searcy Action Ring Game”. Greg Sullivan and Jay Helfert are doing that so I don’t have a lot of information. Stay tuned.

Thanks Grady. It was your success at staging the first few big Ring Games, that inspired us to do a nightly Ring Ten Ball Game. Who will be the next Denny Searcy?

U.S.Open 9 Ball

Grady,
Wife Pris and I looked for you at the U.S. Open 9 Ball in Chesapeake last weekend. Where were you?
We will see you in January at the Derby.
All the best.
Your friend,
Wayne Agnew

I've only been playing 8 Ball because of the IPT. Since I'm not with ACCU-STATS anymore it's just not cost effective for me to go to the Open. But I will be at the DCC.

grady, glad to see you posting.

As a person who has been both a player and real promoter of this game, I was wondering about your thoughts on the currents state of the ipt?

I have talked with many others, and most have said that in the recent past, promoters have been hesitant to create billiard events because they couldn't compete with the hefty prizes that the ipt has offered. They were afraid that with the ipt offereing events almost on a monthly basis, most players wouldn't get out of bed for a 20k added tournament.

Personally, I think the future of the ipt is in real trouble, but still too early to schedule events that might otherwise be poorly attended.

Any thoughts?

Hope your well.

Ps. I would understand if you felt obligated NOT to comment publicly and would appreciate a pm if you are so inclined.

Grady: It's good to see you posting again. I hope to see you at the DCC.

Sorry for going off-topic, but I hadn't heard about Accu-Stats. I've collected a lot of their videos and I always enjoyed those that you hosted (especially those with Billy). I hope this isn't a permanent decision. I'd like to hear more of the Grady/Billy banter!

I am of the exact same opinion. They really do need to get rid of Wych and bring Grady back. Wych removes so much of the enjoyment I used to have watching Accu-Stats videos.

Ditto what others have said; Grady, thank you very much for your insightful commentating on the Accu-Stats in the past. It really adds a ton of value to the product.

Thanks, everybody

Thanks for the positive words, fellow posters. I really miss doing commentary but as things stand I can't see myself returning to Accu-stats.
The IPT and Kevin Trudeau have me baffled, honestly. For starters the same impact on the billiard world could have been acchieved with half million dollar tournaments and $200 qualifiers.
I e-mailed Deno and Kevin my suggestions for improving things but I never heard anything back. I think everyone will get paid; when remains to be seen.
I have tendered offers in three venues towards staging One Pocket and 14.1 tournaments. I'll keep you in the loop with that. You may also rest assured that if I do put on Straight Pool, it will be much better than what took place last year (sorry,Randy). For those who don't know, Randy donated $20,000 out of his own pocket just to have some quality 14.1 to watch.
