I won a tournament back in January where one of the prizes for 1st place was a custom jump cue provided by Robert Surface. As the cue was not provided by the time of the tournament, I reached out to him directly afterwards. He promised the jump cue would be completed and delivered. In April, I sent him another message to check the status. You can see his response below anong with my two follow ups with no response. It's now been 9 months and he will not respond to messages. They guy is a complete flake. Just leaving this here in case someone is looking to place an order with him. Buyer beware.

agree on the tournament promoter. it was the prize he offered. it is up to him to provide or or a prize you are willing to accept in its place.

post the name of the tournament director if he refuses as then he is in the same bed. if he is honest then you will get satisfaction.

I’d be going after the tournament director on this. Knowing how some of these things go, I’m assuming the TD has never paid the cuemaker.

A lesson that I’ve learned is if your not getting it that day your never getting it

Also, Robert who??

Sounds like the Cuemaker who was member here, and ran a contest something like DESIGN YOUR DREAM CUE.

Many members got into free Cue give away, and winning design was chosen.👍👍👍👍👍

The WINNER never got their prize, Cuemsker died a few years later at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix from cancer.

These stories of prizes not delivered give people bad names.

Others should avoid doing business with these people.

One way to look at this is the tournament promoter is the one who owes you the cue. He is the one who promised to you to give you one. That might be a more productive path.
50/50 imo. The TD/org. and the maker came to an agreement as to this. Shared liability in my fairly feeble legal mind. ;)

Tournament director was none other than the infamous Jason Hunt so that's like beating a dead dog. The agreement was that Robert Surface was a sponsor and providing a free jump cue to the prize pool. When I first contacted him and gave him my address, he agreed to send me a jump cue as soon as it was completed and then completely ghosted me when I asked for an update a few times after that. If I'm not mistaken, he has some type of tie to Carolina Cues.

Believe Carolina Cues are out of biz.

some times in life you just get stiffed.

unfortunately you have to just move on and let others know your story so they dont fall victim to the same situation.

That's your first mistake right there... If that dude is involved in anything, I'm out. If he enters a tournament that I want to play, I'm out. It's way too frustrating being around him.

I really think you got screwed.

It's a jump cue and probably not a lot of money. Maybe small claims court?

You'd have to prove that this is one of the prizes, then you would have to prove that you won the prize. Which possibly could be a pain. If you don't have them I wouldn't try to proceed.

I know around me you have to pay fees for small claims, So you could be out more money going this route.

Or you go about the old fashioned way, and beat the heck out of someone, but that possibly could make other issues.

Well its is sad state of affairs when a Tournament don’t pay as promised, or pay with rubber checks, or sponsors do not deliver prizes like Cues, Cases, or what ever.

Sadly this is not first story of some person getting shafted or screwed over.

This nonsense gives Pool a bad name.

Certainly won't be the last
