Snapshot9, TheOne,

I put some info on the qualifier Zion won in Maryland. I played him in that and he really has a nice fluid stroke and controlled demeanor. Looks like he's continuing to do well going into Sunday.

I thought that it was stated that he qualified for Turning Stone, but the qualifying tournaments indicated are 14.1 and Turning Stone is 9 ball, so I guess I am confused at this point.

Somebody asked who he was, I simply provided some info, eg he qualified and played in the World 14.1 Champs and gave link to his group results.

As far as Im aware you dont really have to qualify for turning stone event, its truly open, pay your money and take your chances.

Hope that helps!

Well, I left at six....Santos was playing Johnny Archer..both were undefeated..

Santos had beaten Jeanette

Shawn P beat Karen C

There were some really long matches this afternoon...They were a good hour and a half behind schedule..

I know Mitch was calling in updates..but they haven't been posted as I'm writing this..

Jam was hanging out watching the action when I left..

I'll bet it wasn't McCready/ SLivka that held things up...!

It looks like the finals brackets have been updated to some degree..

Santos remains undefeated, and will be in the final match..

It looks like he'll face the winner of the Putnam/Archer match

Image of the day

I think someone forget to tell one of the Ref's that all the action was on the other side of the room !!!

Ha Ha ha...

Just kidding...he was just taking a break..

I picked 128 in Joe Tuckers contest, which happens to be Santos, so any updates would be great. :)

Wow, what a tournament! We just got home.

There were so many FANTASTIC matches, but the one in particular that stands out in my mind was between Jeanette Lee and Jerry Slivka. It was so tense. Jerry had Jeanette stuck pretty good at the beginning, but then a missed 4-ball by Jerry, a 9 on the break by Jeanette, and before you knew it, it was hill-hill. The last game had everybody in the joint sitting on pins and needles.

The finals between Santos and Johnny didn't end until after midnight. More on that later.

As soon as I download my pictures, I'll post 'em up along with some more eyewitness reports. It sure does feel good to be home typing on my own keyboard.

There were some unbelievable moments during the event, excitement, highs and lows, tempers rising to a fever pitch, and a few tears.

Wow, congratulations to Johnny Archer. This guy has been simply unbeatable as of late. Thanks for the updates all week JAM!

I'm on cloud nine, with Keith defeating Eddie Matushoneck, 9 to 6. The match started out a little rocky for the Earthquake, with Eddie coming out 2 games ahead from jump street. I chatted with Eddie before their match and found out he's 56 years old and has been playing pool for quite some time. He has competed in the U.S. Open and many other high-profile events and can get there. Keith made some fantastic shots, but he was jumping straight up like a jack rabbit, making me bite my nails. The case game for Keith, Matushoneck was shooting on the 9-ball and missed, leaving it hanging in the jaws of the corner pocket, which gave Keith the almighty win. Eddie is still in this tournament, though, and will start competing on the B side of the chart.

The world is so small!!! I am in a hay field in the middle of the grizzlies with one traffic light in the county seat and 2500 miles away from NY but Friday I sent a custom cue back east and was told all about the possible McCready/Matushoneck match and a little about Eddie (very good player who is returning to playing since his kids are college age). Turns out my customer is a realtor/friend of Matushoneck and was traveling to the tournament just to see Matushonick and this possible match. I don't build a lot of cues so it I thought it was funny/odd that this custom cue I just sent was built with the same woods used for Keith's cue and Matushoneck has asked to see the cue when my customer receives it.

Hey, Jack, you're right in that it truly is a small world. As I seated myself alongside Keith's designated table as he was practicing for his pending match with Matushoneck, I was seated next to a young lady named Mary. She was friends with Matushoneck and was seated up front and close, wanting to sweat his match with Keith.

We got to chatting, and she told me that the very day before she came to Turning Stone, she got the word that her Madden cue was en route to her, and she was quite excited about getting it. She knew that Keith was shooting with a Madden too. She said she can't wait to get her hands on hers.

BTW, each tournament Keith shoots with his Madden, he said he is feeling his game get stronger. He absolutely loves his custom-made Madden cue stick and wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China. I am happy too to see Keith finally get to play with a cue stick that responds to all of his englishes as well as perform the way he likes it to. Hope all is well with you and Bev! :)
