Yes the U.S. is lucky, because if Barry got mad and removed Europe from the Mosconi Cup then we will never beat them again, I can't argue with you there.

P.S.,
I have to admit that my cheeck's were hurting trying not to smile when writing this,

you sure you're not an English Arse?

To answer your question, I don't have favorite players that i want on the team outside of those picked. I want the best team possible. I'm pulling for the US of A, I don't care who's on the team. I just believe that part of our problem is that we've been handpicking players who haven't earned the right, based on reputation. On last years team especially, we had players who played very few tournaments, but they were big names, like Dennis Hatch. John Schmidt this year is the same way. He plays a few tournaments, usually straight pool, and that's it. Are these guys great players? Sure, but show me you want to be on the team, and you want to compete. These semiretired players getting picked for the Mosconi Cup is not helping team USA

Apparently you haven't read much about Mark, and his plans for the team. Rest assured, no one that doesn't show extreme dedication will be playing on the team. Some players, like John S. may have been semi-retired, but they aren't anymore if they want to be part of the team.

EARL is the one that can handle the pressure and a great player this years team will get spanked my picks Earl Shane Bergman Corey and Desheine

He's great commenting to the world how lucky the other team was when they made great shot after shot and of course never even noticing the lucky rolls he or our team got. A real sportsmen all the way!

....There's a reason why Shane and Earl played in Matchroom's next event after the Cup. If anyone thinks Earl was the primary reason for the discord, you're mistaken....

@ Nostroke & VictorL:

please keep in mind that almost NO ONE present, could hear what yáll heard on their microphones.

yes, "Earl is Earl". always will be.

but his place last year was a 1-time thing for their 20th Anniversary. cause the Brits LOVE him. no more, no less.

I admit I do not know a lot about Mr. Wilson, so if I seem to be bashing him, I apologize and that was not my intention. My point is that in order to have the best team, we need to have some sort of system where players who want to be included in the selection process have to opportunity to play their way on to the team. The 8 people picked are all great players, granted, but when we automatically exclude the rest of the playing professionals, we're hurting our chances at victory. Certainly the Captain, Mr. Wilson, has the responsibility of excluding anyone that he considers to be detrimental to the team. I hope that makes sense, and that's my opinion, I'm sticking to it.

Like I've said before, every major league team in any sport has to re tool and get new blood to replace the getting old blood. Do the young teams win the first year...sometimes, but not often. I'll be watching and rooting for which ever 5 Mark brings to the cup. One thing I'll know for sure, all of the 5 players will give it their all and not treat it like a paid family vacation. Johnnyt

We used that sort of logic last time around, and we absolutely embarrassed ourselves. This event should be about showing the world we are capable of fielding a team that can control their mouths. I love Earl, but he has proven to be a poor ambassador of the game. I'm not sure about the others, but I suspect they would be better behaved without Earl leading the way.

I respectfully disagree. We had no rhyme or reason with the picks last year; we just picked our 5 based on rep and away they went and got hammered. As somebody put it, they acted like it was a paid vacation. If you want to be on the Mosconi Cup team, let the Captain know and SHOW him you mean it. Otherwise, stay semi-retired.

You probably haven't been following this stuff for very long.

There is no "we". Match room Sports picked the players, the ones they wanted for THEIR event, on its 20th Anniversary. There was no choice allowed to anyone as to who was playing.

In previous years, matchroom would choose some players, and a few spots were available to those who won a points race, based on tournament performance that year.

Still, it is their ball, they just let the US players play with it.

thank you.

So there is no misunderstanding, let me make sure I got this right. Last year, the Captain had nothing to do with who was on the team, Matchroom picked all the players. AND, they told our team captain this year that these 8 were the ones he could pick 5 from. Why would anybody agree to be captain that way?

No i believe mark was told he was captain and could pick all the members. He chose the 8 and 5 system himself.

Well, from what I understand and have read, Mark Wilson is an excellent choice for captain, and I wish him the best. I also understand that he wants people who will represent the USA with sportsmanship, which I totally agree with. I guess the thing to do is trust his judgment, and root for them to represent the US honorably, and hopefully win. As I have said, and I will leave it at this; I just wish everyone who has a desire to represent the USA in the Mosconi Cup had an opportunity to show they belong. If they know up front that improper behavior would disqualify them, maybe they would get their act together.
GO USA!
