Rodney Morris Prediction US open.......

Hi there Lee,

Anyone that came there to play in this great tourny should not be taken lightly. The hardest part though is to not let the moment swallow you up.

I don't know Phil but to me that is the biggest challenge in any huge event like this. keep your focus the same all the time. Even when you play a big name player.

Many of these players play good enough to beat alot of these champions but they just lose focus. The only time you can practice keeping your focus in a big tourny like this is when your there. Kind of on the job training.

I wish your friend good luck. I hope everyone wins this thing.

I just like Rodneys odds with his game as I see it right now. If Phil beats him he'll have to plat great.....

Hi Gene,

I agree, no training like on the job, being thrown in the deep end.

But the kid is a future champion and already won in the UK against the best. Rodney is an enigma at times and needs to focus more. I feel, he should win more than what he does and i mean major titles, even though he wins a lot of US events. He seems to lack that killer instinct in the majors, like he doesnt care at times, with his laid back attitude costing him. But thats just Rodneys nature, a real nice guy.

Maybe I just hold it against Rodney that he does not play in many big international events overseas. Other than SVB no American player really does. Rodney likes to call himself the best player in the world but how would he know? Go win a big tournament in Asia or even Europe against the worlds pool of talent before making bombastic claims. As great as SVB is and as often as he plays, he still has not won in Asia. Rodney has played well in smaller events lately but how long has it been since he won a really big tournament?

I agree with much of what you've written, and perhaps his absence from many of the world's premier events will hurt him.

Still, the fact remains that Rodney is playing great right now, and he showed he can beat the cream of the international crop at the 2011 Derby City 10-ball event, where he beat Niels Feijen in the quarterfinal, Lee Vann Corteza in the semifinal, and Darren Appleton in the final.

Excellent points!

I'm pulling for Rodney as well. I've watched him win just about everything over the summer on all the streams I can get my hands on... he's in really top form lately, and I would be shocked to not see him in the finals, or at least the final 4 of the Open.

As far as a dark horse in the tournament I like Mike Banks from Kansas City, MO. I lived down there for about 8 years when I wasn't playing pool. The last year i was there i was playing some and I'm just guessing but this young man might be ready to win a big one.

I at least figure on mike going deep.

Look out for this young man. He's a pretty good kid too.

Let's see what happens. Good Luck Mike. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good thread, Geno. Good luck to Rodney.

I'm not trying to jinks Rodney but he's been playing pretty good. I think this is his year. Plus he definitely is one of the nice guys out there that is really good for the game.

I see Mika is in his brackett. He's going to have to get past Rodney and that's going to be pretty tough. It won't be a walk in the park for Rodney either. But I think Rodney will come through.

I'm picking Rodney Morris to win it all.:dance:

Just my opinion. GO ROCKET..............:dance::dance:

I hope you are doing better! Let me know?
Regards,
Lock N Load.

My dark horse is the skillful, but lesser known in America, contingent that traveled here from Great Britain.

Mark Gray - England
Darryl Peach - England
Jayson Shaw - Scotland
Karl Boyes - England
Chris Melling - England

Just like Englishman Darren Appleton, the defending champion, they have all advanced to the third round of the winners bracket.

Another month and I'll be like new...........

I hope you are doing better! Let me know?

Thanks for asking. I plan on getting on the road here as soon as possible. I'll head straight for Texas to Big truck Country.

My little rehab here gives me the chance to be an arm chair back seat pool player and cheer for some of my friends and favorite players.

I'm getting stronger and stronger eveyday. Will just take some more time.

I still like Rodney here. He's kind of been building up to this all year. Winning this and winning that.

Look out for my little buddy Jesse engle on the losers side. he'll be a tough out.

Also another friend of mine Lee Heuwagen from Mn. is playing real well. this guy has some real seasoning under his belt. It looks like if they keep winning that jesse and Lee will be playing soon.

What a great tournament. Wish I was there but there's always next year and i won't miss that one. I'm going to be real careful from now on.

Anyway bedtime and ice. My best friend right now. Don't want to miss the great action tomorrow.

have a great week everyone.

I totally agree.............

Rodney is a stone cold Player. He got maloha on the outside, but he is one of the World's elite on the inside, a top 10 favorite for the Open for sure. Every year.

I agree that Rodney Morris is one of the stone cold favorites every year. His game is solid and he doesn't seem to crack under the pressure.

Lee Heuwagen is a little known player that should be on that list but isn't. He played so dominant at certain times that they kind of banned him from alot of local tournaments. This guy can flat out play.

If I had to put my cash on a player that was not considered a top 10 favorite Lee would be the man.

Keep an eye on this guy. It won't be a fluke if he gets real real deep in this thing.

GO LLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...........................

Rodney just keeps ticking like..............

Rodney just keeps ticking like the old timex commercials. Just quietly keeps winning.

He's been in the losers now for awhile but he's going to be an awful tough out.

I don't care who he plays. They don't have to like it at all especially if they look at his track record for the last 6 months.

Gooooooooo RRRRRodney.............
