After watching Rodney play in the finals and seeing many other great players in stroke ,playing at a healthy paced speed ,I am convinced that what Earl says about adding a shot clock is spot on !! When these so called champions mull ,sweat ,and fret over a shot that a 6-7 speed leauge player would just shoot ,the need for a shot clock is obvious. When players like Rodney Morris, Earl Strickland, and even players from the not so distant past like Jim Rempe and Jimmy Reid ,all had a very good speed of play and made the game alot more exiting to watch .I even know a couple of A+ to pro speed players into their 60's that still take no more than 30 secs per shot in 9 ball.I did want to be clear I am refering to rotation games ,not strait pool or one pocket here.Great win Rodney and that's how the game should be played ,it was beautiful to watch.
