Ronnie 1996 128 video - VERY fast

I just looked it up, I was not aware that American Snooker was different than International Snooker in rules and equipment, besides the 12' vs 10' table. Thanks for bringing that up.

According to what I found on Wikipedia, American used 2 1/8" balls, while International used 2 1/16" balls. (It seems the international is now 52.5mm, a small difference from 2 1/16", I didn't find what year that changed).

All that said, I think every snooker match that's ever been on Youtube is probably the International version and equipment.
Probably. All I know is every sanctioned match, the pockets are the snooker equivalent of buckets. Balls are routinely wobbled in much as you see in pool.

Oops. I thought the Euro balls were 2" flat.

I played in a room that had 6x12"s with match cut pockets and steel backed rails. I don't remember the pocket size, how the rail openings were or how the drops were. The tables played good coming off the rails and weren't forgiving pocketing balls.

this knowledge of yours can also be categorized as alternate reality
Alternate opinion for sure. Up to the early 90s one of my practice routines was American pool balls on any snooker table I could get to. We don't even have pool rooms with 9 footers anymore. At any rate I find televised snooker, however competent, unimpressive. I do enjoy the long breaks but the defense is remedial and often infantile; perhaps only viable because because of the conservative bent of the field. I actually like the video in the OP because he started the break with a long one to a back pocket. Of course that was the only one and IIRC as he came to his senses, he incorporated more of the back balls. I don't know the point strategy if there was any but the pattern was very concessionary.

I've posted links to this match a few times. Its hilarious, especially the way he shoots the last blue.

One of the funnest frames to watch I've ever seen.

Does the steel make the cushions liver than wood does?

His mechanics are flawed…😱
he doesnt stand behind the shotline and step in to the shot
just think how good he could be if he played correctly…😂
He also didn't bother to chalk much. Good thing he sticks with soft center ball on all his shots.
