How good is he? I've been watching some vids of him from the just-completed WPC and I can't get over how composed and smooth he is at the table, and that stroke! Very efren-esque. I remember he had a stint in the U.S. a few years back, did anyone get a chance to play him and see how he is for the money? Does he play other games well? I hope to see him do well in the future, he is fun to watch!

I believe he is the Magicians protege' and is now being managed by the same handlers.

Definitely world champ material.

Word is he and Dennis Orcullo beat Pagulayan on money games down in Manila last year right before Alex won the WPC.
Ronnie got beat by Morris here for the cash pretty easily right before Ronnie went back to the islands.

I had the pleasure of seeing him play quite a bit on the Joss tour and for a while, he completely dominated it.
Super smooth player.

Filipino Champion Ronnie Alcano is a first-class gentleman on and off the table. However, on the Joss tournament trail, he did get spanked at Ultimate Billiards, in Berlin, CT, in pretty resounding fashion.

It took the railbirds longer to jockey for position and find a seat to view the finals match than it did for the duration of the match itself, 9 to 2. Berlin did suffer an Earthquake at that particular tournament! ;)

No doubt Keith shot lights out that day. Ronnie is no slouch and it would take a player of his caliber to beat him up like that.
Way to go Keith!

You never know which Keith is gonna show up. I remember seeing him shoot a .971(or something like that) on the TV table at the US Open against Parica. Ironically, he lost to Parica to get knocked out of the tourney, but my point is .971 in a pressure match.

That sure was a pressure match. Keith was stuck at the beginning, missing a 9-ball of all things, but managed to pull ahead. :p

At the Joss event where he defeated Ronnie Alcano in record time, the tables were fast as lightning. The cloth was blue in color, but they were FAST as all get out. There were quite a few heavy hitters there that weekend.

I heard a little pool smut last night about Mika Immonen. We ran into a local fellow who is part-owner of a pool room in Pennsylvania, where it is rumored that Mika will be hanging his hat in the very near future. He told me that Mika Immonen has a twin brother who is coming to the States to help out at the new pool room. I didn't know Mika had a twin brother!

If you're talking about Planet 9 ball in Limerick, I believe Mika has been part owner in it from the beginning. Is this another room?

Yes, I do remember the Planet 9-Ball pool room in Limerick. We went there two SBE's ago, about a 15-minute drive. GREAT place, too!

There is a pool room close to Valley Forge named Classic Billiards. One of the owner's cousins, a really nice guy, told me about Classic Billiards, and that they are expanding. Mike Immonen is going to be returning to this spot, I believe, as is his "twin brother." I'll bet his twin brother, if he plays pool, will have a tough time getting a game (LOL)! ;)

That was a really GREAT article about Mika! Thanks for sharing that link. :)

It looks like Mika Immonen does have a twin: “It’s different here; I could really feel the crowd,” says Immonen, who’s twin, Kari, once beat Ralf Soquet in the 1995 European Championships.

thanks you are welcome

Yep, Mika has a twin brother, also a skilled player. Runs over 100 in snooker and indeed has beaten Ralf Souquet. Here's a pic of Kari Immonen (yes, the name is different below the, don't ask):

And no, he doesn't look much like Mika. :p

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but didn't Ronnie get shut out twice in the finals of the Joss that year 9 to ZIP at the hands of Earthquake and Pat Mcnally?

Shit happens. Don't forget, Alcano also won 3 or 4 in a row too. I don't think anybody has won 3 or 4 tour stops in a row, before. BTW, a few of those guys Ronnie beat can play a lil too ;)

I think you are correct. For quite some time he would make the finals and lose. In my opinion, making the finals is quite a feat in and of itself.
Seemed like once he finally broke through and won one they just kept coming.

I wasn't questioning Ronnies ability (IMHO he's one of the best in the world) JAM said 9 to 2 and I thought he shut him out. If Earthquake and Ronnie were to gamble (9 ball) I would like Ronnie
