I have two rooms that will house my GC3 according to Brunswicks website

They say that the minimum is a 14x18 room. My room measures 14X24.

how tight will it be on the sides with a 14ft with with a normal 58/59 inch cue. Any playability issues with those rare straight on the rail shots?

I have a another room thats 18 x 22 but my wife says the pool table cant go in that room

Assuming its a 9 footer, 14 is not comfortable, your tip will be right up to the cueball if its on the rail, with no room to stroke.

On a 9 footer the playing area between the cushions is 50".

50 + 59 cue length + 59 cue length = 168"

14 feet = 168"

Fourteen is a little tight but DEFINITELY playable. We are talking about two things happening at once. Ball frozen AND being shot a STRAIGHT across the table at the same time! This is a VERY small percentage of shots. If we only installed tables in 20x25 rooms, we would all be out of business. The other option is not having a table. I think you could live with one tight shot out of five hundred or so!

According to wifey you have just 1 room :D
In the 14X24 you will have 0" of swing distance perpendicular to the table sides without jacking the cue provided the table is setup centered in the room. Plenty of free swing area on the length.

Room width = 168"
Playing area = 50"
Cue = 59"
Playing area + Cue(X2) = 168"

I guess you could play winter rules and move whitey a bit when it's frozen to a rail.
The smarter play is try to persuade the misses to use the larger room.

Trade her 2 rooms for 1 room, good deal! Maybe set up like a gym/work out room in one of them for her to sweeten the deal! :)

And don't forget that on a rail shot you're already jacked up a little. As was pointed out shot's exactly perpendicular to the rail don't happen that often and you could always have a good housecue cut-down and ready for those circumstances.

Bottom line, you can use the smaller room and have great fun doing it with lots of room at the end for TV and stuff.

I'd flip the Mrs. with a 2 headed coin for the larger room. While 14 is doable 16+ is mo bettah.
