Rotation 8-Ball

Anybody ever played Rotation 8-Ball, where you must make all your color of balls in rotational order?

That may be a game for the Pros.

If that becomes too easy, then add on "last pocket" or "bank the 8" into the game. Or even "bank it into your last pocket".

People keep trying to make pool TOO EASY. Jump sticks, extensions, faster cloth and rail, LD, etc., etc.

Pretty soon we won't even be playing pool. It will have morphed into a totally different game of sort.

I play Rotation 8-Ball every week. It's one of my favorites.
My version is full 8 Ball rules but balls must be contacted in order.
Combos and caroms allowed.
You really have to stay aware of your opponents next ball, and play accordingly.

I've never played, or seen it played, that way -- but I'd like to. How much does it increase the safety play and the length of the games?

Safeties would be extremely easy in rotation 8-ball, especially in the early game.

Some might think that would make the games longer, but with easy safeties comes more opportunities to get ball in hand. Which means a better chance at running out.

The length of the games probably would be a little longer, but not by a whole lot.

That's a great game. Depending on the rules you setup, it can be like two games of pool going on one Pool Table.

What was that tournament they just had, Andy Cloth 8-ball Tournament, I think.

Anyway, that's how they played.
Barbox 8-ball with 13 balls (6 of each and the 8).
Must run stripes or solids in rotation.

The game was called Saratoga.

Definitely sounds like a fun game to play once in a while. Im sure it slows the game down alot since 8 ball relies so much on pattern play. Harder to find a sequential pattern around traffic. Maybe take away ball in hand?

I've played this game as a spot, where I have to shoot in rotation and my opponent would shoot in any order.

For the last two years we've played Blind Man 8-ball. It's basically the same as regular 8-ball except you have wear a blindfold the entire game.

I'd give you my opinion of it, but we haven't finished the first game yet.

bih one foul would be no fun...

It would need to be rollout for it to be any fun...

I used it as a handicap against some of my teammates on league nights. They played regular I played rotation.

They learned quick how to duck and hide.
