Anyone ever try the Rigid router? They are considerably cheaper and it appears you can change the brushes real easy.

I have'nt used a ridgid yet. I did get an offer from rockler for a bosch that is made simular, and around the same price. It even comes with a free palm sander. They say they put out less noise, but I don't know how much less really is. I know I had to start wearing ear plugs with the porter, because that thing was messing My ears up.

Or you could get what Ernie G uses b/c you are as wealthy as he is now.Cue Crazy said:Anyone know anything about these grinding spindles. They're electric, and go up to 80,000 rpm according to the site. I don't know if the prices listed are just for the collet it'self, If so I hate to think what the grinders cost.
check them out here-

I happen to have sat next to the Maestro at this year's UPA Bicycle Open.Cue Crazy said:Well Joey, If he was kind enough to give me half his wealth, then I maybe as wealthyThruth Is I'm dreaming for now, but who knows what lies in the future
.
Those are some nice spindles also. I've seen them mounted on machines in pictures before, that is unless they were NSK I saw, and they just looked alike to me.

I picked his brains a little. The Maestro was actually gracious enough to talk to a loser like me. The Maestro was elegant, classy and kind.
I asked him if he had a saw machine. He said he knew SW and Bender used them but he said he had several Perske motors and he could hog out 100 thou per side easily.
Some of his family members from Colombia were there too. We were watching Efren vs. Corey Deuel. Great match won by Deuel ( hill-hill ). He told me he made a cue for Efren years ago and it was stolen. I can only imagine what it'd be worth now.
People have warned other cuemakers; do not go in Ernie's shop. You might just go back to your shop and light a fire.![]()
I have been to Ernie's shop several times, over the yrs. Nice machinery, and he's a great mechanic.JoeyInCali said:I happen to have sat next to the Maestro at this year's UPA Bicycle Open.

Sherm, cuesmith said:This guy makes some great CNC spindles at prices that blow away anything else I've seen! I am using one of his "ultra sonic" 60,000rpm spindles on my main CNC. He'll also custom make mounts or just about anything else you need, if you're not equiped to do it yourself.
I was amazed at how silent my spindle was before I mounted it, but found that the extruded aluminum frame of my gantry tends to amplify it some. Weird!
The spindles are great, though not designed to do real heavy work, like say a perske router, but are very suitable for inlay work and most light machining.

cueman said:Sherm,
He says he does not offer a power supply for the spindles. What would one use to run the 9 volt spindles?
cuesmith said:Hmmm, When I bought mine it was complete with power supply and mount. It may be that he's more into the machining aspect and doesn't want to mess with the electronics anymore himself, but I imagine he can direct you to the proper equipment.

He told me he does not have any power supplies and when asked what I could use to run it on I got no response. If he would have directed me somewhere he may have sold another one.cuesmith said:Hmmm, When I bought mine it was complete with power supply and mount.
