Hey folks, just curious here. I keep checkin out scambay for cues. Not that I'm going to buy. I love my Gilbert and dont have any more spare cash to spend. But can anyone tell me about the guys that bid on Ebay for cues? They are like Bidder 1 thru Bidder 9 and they seem to be bidding on every nice cue on there. I see em bidding against each other. There is a Mottey up with 13 bids I think and everyone that bid was from Bidder so and so. I just want to know if its some sort of club where one guy is trying to win by outbidding the rest or something like that. LOL. If anyone knows the scoop, could they please let me in on it. Like I said, just curious.

What is actually happening is that the seller has set up a "private" auction that assigns numbers to bidder to protect their identities. This also protects the seller from someone letting his bidders know that they are being scammed as well. Do a little research on sellers if possible

most of the nicer auctions they keep the bidder id's private so you only see bidder 1 2 and so on and so on. ooops see someone beat me.

Not quite right guys. Once the bidding goes above $200 Ebay assigns the #s
It is suppose to protect us from fake 2nd chance offers. It also keeps us from letting someone know it is a scam listing. In my opinion it facilatates shill bidding. It started a few months back. Dumb Idea of Ebay:o
Private auctions are different. It will just say bidders ID private. That the seller initiates. Another bad move. It is also used for shilling.:(

There has been such a huge problem with Scammers trying to contact other Seller's bidders that eBay had to go to this new bidding format ... In the past, Scammers would contact non-winning bidders and try to sell them the same item as a "Second Chance Offer" ... They get the losing bidder to send them a Cashier's Check or Money Order and the poor schleppe never receives anything for his money ... They tried with me several times, but I just sent their email and user information directly to eBay Security and let them take care of it ... Be careful out there when you are bidding on eBay ... If you see a Cue you really like, you can always ask us "old-time eBayers" for a Reference on the Seller ...
