In a game of 9 ball if player A has 1 foul on player B and player B takes another foul because he can not possibly make a good hit on the object ball, will the 2 fouls he has remain against him if player A says I can not make a good hit either and gives ball in hand to Player B. My questions is this: Does a bad hit by Player A erase the 2 fouls Player B has? Or does player B still have to make a good hit to void the 2 fouls he has?

You are making it way more complicated than it really is: 3 consecutive fouls by either player is loss of game(period).

Sometimes balls do get tied up in a manner that it is impossible to make a good hit, the first one to foul from there will also be the first to 3foul, assuming neither disturbs the balls and passes the shot to opponent.

Player b loses in the scenario you present.

Are you talking about the 3 fouls?

5.13 THREE CONSECUTIVE FOULS
If a player fouls three consecutive times on three successive shots without making an intervening legal shot, the game is lost. The three fouls must occur in one game. The warning must be given between the second and third fouls. A player’s inning begins when it is legal to take a shot and ends at the end of a shot on which he misses, fouls or wins, or when he fouls between shots.

If the player is facing his 3rd consecutive foul, he will lose regardless of the other players foul, as stated, 1 foul vs. 2.

Player B is still on two fouls whenever he gets back to the table.

Gotta admit, I'd find it awful funny if the guy lost to 3 consecutive fouls with ball in hand.

Unless player B fouls with ball in hand, he should still be in the game. But player A needs to make a good hit or he will be on two fouls.

Losing on three fouls is a nasty way to lose a game. It has happened to me in a tournament once. I hated it, hated it, hated it. It was the only time I have been a completely poor sport and I am not proud of it. I will deal with it better next time! Haha! (Hope there won't be a next time!)

Actually, looking at your scenario again... I am surprised that player A can't make a good hit with ball in hand.... must be a sticky situation... Blackballed is correct... Assuming A can't make a good hit, then B also won't be able to make a legal shot, therefore B loses...

Here's a scenario, that could result in it. I wouldn't find it very funny, if I were doing the shooting.

You're right.

It would be a whole lot easier to find the humor in it *if* it wasn't me.

The one ...

with the most 'Chess experience' will win the game.
Mr. Wilson ... Your example isn't necessarily so, since
a player could put the 9 in back of the 7 and the incoming
player could then hit the 7 with ball in hand.

The 'trick' to those situations is being able to make a
bad hit, but where your opponent can not make a ball
or a real good safety with ball in hand with the leave.

What example are you looking at? If you are talking about the one I posted, player A will win in this situation, unless he really screws up. Remember player B is already on two.

Only way out I can imagine would be a miracle jump shot.

I doubt that would do it either, because they are so close together the cue ball will likely get push in just on settling back to the table. I only got the cue ball to stay on the table twice out of 5 good jumps. I took like 9 or 10 just to get the 5! LOL

BTW, I had more success jumping into the point and 7-ball close together than hitting the front of 7 alone coming down.

That may be, but my money is still on player A. ;)

No ... No ... No ..... Lmao

You have to start with zero fouls with the layout,
not 2 .... I get to play the whole chess game, not
just the checkmate move ... ROFL You have to
give me some latitude ... <grin>

Hey,thanks For The Replies. I Saw Hennessee Play/get A Safe On John Hager At 2004 Dcc. Hennessee Played Safe By Shooting The Object Ball Into Another And Leaving The Cueball Behind Another Ball. The Object Rolled Within 1 Inch Of An Obstructing Ball And The Ball He Originally Shot The Ob Into Came Back Up The Rail And Pinned The Ob Between 2 Balls And The Rail Not Leaving A Chance For A Good Hit. Hager Tore It Out To And Received A Foul But Was Smart Enough Not To Leave It There. Thanks!!

Man, when someone starts rolling on the floor, laughing out loud, for no apparent reason. Then he says "you have to give me some latitude", followed by uncotrollable grinning... You can bet, I'm giving him latitude! ;)
