I will be attempting to break and run out a rack of 9-ball at least once each day for a year.

As irrationally optimistic as that sounds, I'm also going to upload the videos to YouTube, and do all my own camera work. I don't think I yet know how hard this will be to accomplish.

I've got two days worth completed(links below), which leaves 363 days to go.

Wish me luck, or even better join in the challenge. I could use the company as motivation.

It sounds cool but I do not play everyday or have a table at home, plus bringing a camera to the poolroom everyday is not that much fun especially when people are wondering what you are doing and why you are so strange, haha.

Try it out a couple times at your local room. I'm three days in now and I've had nothing but positive responses from everyone.

I don't have a table at home either, or even a cue for that matter, though I've had both in the past. I like to say I have a hundred tables and even more cues spread out among the many pool halls here in my hometown of Jacksonville.

I'm the first to admit how strange I am. Maybe now I just don't care to hide it. Instead I'd like to invite others to join in the fun. It really is fun. Even when it takes entirely too long to accomplish.

That sounds like a great idea to get yourself motivated to play the game.
I think it will definitely improve your runout game and I expect to see a couple of packages from time to time as well
Honestly though, it's hard to play everyday for a year without life getting in the way, but I wish you the best of luck and may all the rolls go your way.

Cheers,
Victor

Have you thought about days when the hall is closed for a holiday or is it 24/7/365?

awesome idea and the poolroom in the 2nd vid looks nice (from what i can see ;) )

you should invest some dollars into a magic ball rack, easy to take to the poolhall and you dont have to rerack Xhundred times, wingball is 95% garanteed.

good luck with your "mission"

That's a great idea! I wish I could join you in it, and wish you the best of luck and success with it. I can promise you one thing: in a year from now, you'll feel running a rack is a piece of cake!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

Park Avenue in Orange Park (day 2's video) hasn't been closed since it opened at its new location, as far as I know. I will be able to take advantage of several friends' tables in the event of some unforeseen closures.

I'm more concerned with sickness or days when I will just be too busy.

Totally agree on the magic rack.

That and a Bluetooth remote for the camera. I also need to look into iCloud backup or something similar. Any tips on these technical details would be appreciated. Think they will save me lots of headaches, but I've not kept myself up to date on these kinds of things.

Great idea

Just curious:

What happens if, for some strange reason, you are just not able to break and run on the particular day?
Have you thought of some motivational penance; making atonement of some kind, and also record it then  ???
That would serve as some extra thrill; undoubtedly to all of us, supporters

I like the idea, but I'm sure after about two weeks you are going to be saying WTF did I get myself into. Now you are committed to the end or you will look like a quitter. Use this time to get better with the camera too. We can hardly see the balls. Good Luck!

Already at the WTF point, just three days into it. But in the past I haven't been much for setting goals, and I'm trying to change that. Hopefully this will help. I will at the very least get better at breaking and using the camera as best I can.

I only play on Friday afternoons, and on every other Tuesday during the months with thirty-one days. During the months with thirty days I play on odd numbered Wednesdays. I usually take February off.
Also, I only play One Pocket, so eight and out is very difficult. What should I do. Your friend Tramp.

I would recommend trying to play and record yourself against as many opponents as you can. I think this would be an adequate replacement to the 9-ball version. I welcome any company, and would be very impressed if you had 50 willing opponents in a year's time.

How many racks...?

Typically, how many racks do you have to play to get a BnR?

I haven't kept stats on this just yet, but I'm thinking I probably should start. I anticipate this to be a very common question.

The first day I hadn't even thought to start the challenge and I got it on the third or fourth rack of the day.

Day 2 took forever, I think somewhere around rack 30-40.

Day 3(link below) wasn't too long. Got that one after about 15 racks.

But I couldn't guess what the 'typical' number is yet. Hopefully the number tends to a respectable amount after I get so much practice time in.

Hey, it's a good idea. Best of luck. I find the hardest thing is bringing the camera along with the rest of my gear into the poolroom to record. In fact, I've got to set more little goals for myself in the poolroom as well.
