Sad news once again.

Bob and Jay Wildeman won a partners one pocket tournament 8 years ago….on a 5x10….which didn’t scare Bob…he played snooker also.

The thing about the baby-boomer pool players, they traveled the pool circuit during pool's golden years, long before the advent of digital technology. They had to adjust quickly to all equipment to score a big W, whether in tournament play or action, and most, if not all, of American pool players during pool's golden years played all pocket billiards games, to include snooker. None of them were one-trick ponies or robotic tournament soldiers who played mum pool. Bob was special. He could compete in a tournament as well as engage in games of stake. Interestingly, he also was popular with the ladies.

A longtime good friend and one of the toughest road players Bob "Big Bob' Ogburn passed away today in a hospital in Brunswick, GA.

Bob played High $ action all his life, and mostly bet his own Cheese.

R.I.P. Buddy! See you when I see you.

I haven't looked at this sight in months. I clicked on this morning only to read this sad news. I have known Bob for over 60 years. So many memories are going through my head right now. Oddly enough he called me maybe a year and a half ago.

I first met Bob in 1972@ 11th st. Billiards in Atlanta. We shared stories of all the colorful characters who frequented Cochrans in SF. Everyone had a nickname. Bobs was black bart or just Big Bob.i would run into him from time to time in spots all over the country. We became good friends when we were both hangin out in Greensboro NC . Bob was a wise man & we shared our version of pool players spirituality.lol He will sure be missed by myself & the pool community at large. RIP pardnuh

A different era of pool is slowly coming to an end.

Not only was it different the 60's, 70's , 80's into the mid 90's were the nutz.

i didn't know Bob personally, based on what i heard he was a home run hitter.

Condolences to his family and friends
