drill/skills his methods of teaching are most comprehensive from books to dvds to live instruction u will learn a lot from this guy .

Just play lots of one pocket and billiards. There is really nothing anyone can teach you about safety that you can't learn on your own with what you will learn from those games. If you can't play safety, nothing you learn from a better player about it will help. Situations will arise and you will make the right play based on what you know of the game and how good your execution has progressed. Sometimes the best shot is a stop shot sending the ball down table foregoing effort to conceal contact, based on how advanced or intermediate you are. Then the same shot should be played differently by a person of a high caliber.

I'm a bit confused by your comment. If you play lots of one pocket, aren't you learning from your opponent by watching their moves? Wouldn't you learn more from a better player? If your opponent tells you what you might have done differently after a shot, aren't you learning from them? Learning by yourself (trial and error) can be a very slow process. Lessons from a qualified instructor can speed up the learning process dramatically. I would include learning defensive moves a part of any pool lesson. Many of my students come to me specifically to learn defensive strategy, and they seem to win a lot more after a lesson or two. My imagination?

At the top of this page there is a button labeled "Videos", select it. On the left side of the screen there is a tree, select "Instructional" There are several safety play drills and instructional videos there. Several of them come from Dr Daves VEPPS disks.

Hope this helps....
