Sales of cue components- What category ?

I've started this thread here because cuemakers are the principle buyers of cue components. All are welcome to contribute to the discussion and hopefully the input will be of a positive & productive nature. Basically, the question is : What is the appropriate category for marketing cue components ?

Personally, I think it is Ask the Cuemaker. The wanted/for sale forum moves so fast, and so many there are not interested in cue components, posting it here is more direct, and many who might be interested in what people are selling do not frequent the wanted/for sale section. Of the 3 times (I believe it was 3) I sold wood on here, I double posted to the wanted/for sale forum once, and tend to think just posting here is enough.

I think if it is cue machinery for sale, it can be posted either here or the cue machinery forum, but not both IMO.

I don't care for mass posting and more than a bump or two. Some use the forums as a store front (that is an exaggeration perhaps, but gets the point across). While that may not be fair to advertisers who pay for ads, there is an inherent cost/risk in selling through the forum. I feel you open yourself up to open feedback on here. If you use the board to make a sale without ad cost, you have to accept the risk that if the customer isn't happy with the deal he might come on here and exercise his right to post the results of the transaction. In general, I think that is a fair trade.

just my opinions,

sales

I welcome cue components for sale postings here specially from other cuemakers. Mass marketing has to be kept to a reasonable level but I think the best chance for quality products is here. Besides, it helps all of us with the overflow that we tend to accumulate, also the exchange of product information and provider should keep things in check.

To put it simply, if you think you're going to sell crap on here it will only be momentarily.

Machinery in the machinery section.
Cue parts, here.
Mass marketing, pay for AZ ad.

Sorry Jer, I didn't come here to sell much of anything. I'm just here for the ice cream. While I have been involved in a deal or two, I try to keep my business discrete. I will tell you this though, the people that I've dealt with have been terrific. Thanx Guys !!!

I don't see a problem with posting cue components for sales in this "Ask The Cuemaker" and "Machine" categories...I believe opinions were express earlier on when I first started with posting in the "Machine" section and lots of cuebuilders don't mine the post and seen to have welcome it.

I believe components and machine goes together..when builders are looking for machine they may also be looking for components. There are sellers posting components in this category that I think is also approriate.

I don't think there are any set rules from AZ regarding posting..if so they should be outline for us.

BTW, I'm starting to see less and less builders on AZ lately....it's just me or have builders now shy away from AZ? Hopefully the industry will turn around for us all in the winter.

Regards

i also agree with duc as far as the others i dont think occastional posting on the differnat froums is wrong as long as someone doesnt take advantage and overdue do it.a also agree about advertising on az and i also do that so i am not looking just for a free ride i feel i pay my dues and should be able to also post here . i do see where kj is comming from in some ways we dont a junk sale starting here, but good posts should be allowed if they are relavant.
