Samsara Break/Jump Tips - Six failed in the past month!

Its a bummer about the tips. Hopefully you have better luck with another installer, but if its any consolation you have pretty decent mechanics on your break. (even if you missed the one ball a little) Love that PH shaft too btw.

He used gorilla glue gel on the first one.
Then he used some type of "two part epoxy" on the rest.

IMHO there's your problem. Those glues have lots of volume, i.e. there's too much "glue space" between the tip and ferule/pad. The enormous pressure generated from a break or jump will cause a volume-glue to fail (especially if you're using english/draw -- contacting with a side of the tip rather than the center).

Ahhhhh gotcha.

Three shafts going to our AzB local, Ryan Theewen! lol
He won't screw them up!

Dave...this is just my experiences with the Samsara J/B tips.

I have installed around 10 of these tips on friends/teammates break cues...and several more on my personal cues...and I have not had a single one pop off.

FWIW...I have found that using a 2-part epoxy on break tips seems to hold them on better. The reason I say this is because when a CA glue dries (like Loctite gel), it dries rock-hard and feels like a piece of brittle plastic. But when the 2-part epoxy dries...it remains tacky to the touch...and slightly malleable...thus making the bond a bit stronger.

These are just my opinions based on my experiences. I, at one time had the dickens of a time keeping White Diamonds on...until I finally got one to stick (over 100 breaks now and still holding on) by scoring the crap out of the tip and ferrule...and using 2-part epoxy (of course).

I have also found that some ferrule materials just seem to be resistant to certain brands/types of glues...and sometimes you have to just keep experimenting until you get the right combination.

Samsara

I had problems with losing the Samsara until I called Mueller's who recommended Tiger glue and an overnight setup before use.

Correct......I forgot to mention letting the glue set overnight before shaping...especially with the 2-part epoxies.

Tell me...what type of glue is the Tiger glue???

Maniac (likes experimenting)

Just another cyanoacrylate glue. Brand is from Tiger. What I don't like about all these superglue is because they'll dry up unless you put them in a fridge. My grandmother doesn't allow superglue in the fridge that's why I only get superglue gel.

Gorilla superglue is one that doesn't dry up though.

Is that a TNT break cue? My buddy has one with a Purple Heart shaft and identical looking ferrule. He just got his 5th Samsara tip glued on in the past year. Maybe it is the ferrule?

It's a Schmelke JB00. Cocobolo into Maple full splice butt with Schmelke's 3/8x16 Quick Release. It's a really nice break cue for the money. It originally had Schmelke's break tips, but I wanted to go with Samsara's after.

A couple of years ago I had one installed and have never had a problem with it. The installer used a two part epoxy and let it set up for about an hour.
First question I would have is where did you get the tip? There seem to be a lot of counterfeit tips out there lately, and do you have it installed on a pad? For whatever reason some tips don't seem to adhere to a pad as well. The delaminating would seem to indicate that your installer might be trying to trim and shape at too high a speed creating a little more heat than the tip can stand and causing the glue to deteriorate. If that's the case it's possible that could compromise the glue that's holding on the tip.

#1 Solution = Joe Blackburn "Best in the Business"
#2 Solution = Have your installer use this and none other.

Ahhh.. I thought you were installing the tips. Yeah the installer is doing something wrong..

Need to make slices in.gluing surface of tip with razor blade. I do maybe 12 slices paralell to one another, then repeat 2 more sets at off angles. When gluing you cant clamp too tight or the glue will squeeze out. You have 2 nonporous surfaces there. Also need a high quality glue. I use Cue Components tip CA...never lost a tip, Samsara or any other.
