I would think brushing the cloth with your hand would be illegal, seems like it's possibly modifying the playing conditions for both players.

well he did get warned by the ref twice according to Elliot though he didn't specify what for. Though according to WNT's rules (presuming the warnings were for unsporting conduct) the 2nd warning should have resulted in the loss of a rack. Did this happen or did they not follow their own rules?

I think it's probably better to get the rules directly from the WNT website than to go to Scribd.


Here is the current pertinent section:

7. Unsporting Conduct

(a) In the event of
(i) any conduct by a player which in the opinion of an official is willfully or persistently Unsporting; or ​
(ii) any other conduct by a player which otherwise amounts to Unsporting Conduct; or ​
iii) any player refusing to continue the current rack; an official shall warn the player that in the event of any further Unsporting Conduct the rack will be awarded to their opponent. ​

(b) If the official has warned the player under (a) above, in the event of any further Unsporting Conduct, the official shall award the rack to their opponent, or, if this happens between racks, the referee shall award the next rack to their opponent, and the official shall warn the player that in the event of any further Unsporting Conduct the match will be awarded to their opponent.

(c) If an official has awarded a rack to a player’s opponent, under (b) above, in the event of any further Unsporting Conduct by the player concerned, the official shall award the match to the player’s opponent. [/URL]

yeah definitely better to go direct to source, my googling skills let me down as don't think that page came up in my search, but looks like it says the same thing as the scribed page.

Which begs the question did Pinegar get docked a rack, or was Elliot mistaking thinking he had two warnings or did Matchroom just not follow their own process? If they should have awarded Elliot a rack he subsequently lost, then that means hypothetically it could potentially have been 7-7 and a deciding rack if the correct process was followed
 
That's weird, I met Pinegar in person, really nice guy, he is doing cue repair and cue tip work at his local pool room. My tip needs a re-shaped and he did a really good job on it, quick, even explained to me that I got a kind of a hard tip and how to keep it in shape, how to shoot properly to avoid mushrooming... and didn't even want to charge me anything, but I gave him 20 bucks telling him never do anything that you are good at for free 😎

Maybe off the table / out of the match, he has a different personality???? :eek:

Saw him interviewed, thought the same.
 
doesnt matter how nice a person is. if not suitable for the tournament that person needs to correct things or not be able to play.

if one can do, all can do it. a ref. cannot selectively enforce rules called upon him to make.

and if you dont stand up for yourself then you get what you deserve.
 
It goes the other way too. Lots of sportsmen who are popular and act the part on TV are horrible behind the scenes.
