Dear all,
i am a very close friend of George and Athena SanSouci.. now i will tell you why george hasn't been himself latley.. Within the past year george and athena have experienced a major trategy... Athena, george's wife has battled cancer... merley 2 years after overcoming stomach cancer she got pregnant with twins, their first children... after carrying the babies to 6 1/2 months.. athena miscarried, almost dieing in the process not very long ago... they wanted to have children again but george didnt want to put his wife's health at risk... she wouldnt budge saying she wanted to have another child... 2 months later with the help of doctors athena got pregnant again... she has been having a very rocky and high risk pregnancy.. which has been the stress on george for the last year... can you imagine.. losing your children (your first!!!) and possibly losing your wife in the process... and right when you think, she is in her third trimester.. that was horrifying..... athena was hospitalized many times... due to complications in her pregnancy.. george would have wanted her to stay home but she didnt want to because this would be the first and last major tournament she could attend (she is being hospitalized in 2 weeks from what i understand... until the end of her pregnancy..) george has been feeling very sick latley.. he is not in good health.. but he hasnt been taking care of himself because he is looking after his wife... so DO NOT EVER misjudge anyone like that.. when george forefitted his last match... he was extremley sick.. ... you need to understand... a man with that kind of stress.. i dont even know how he won a match.... so please give some respect and consideration to what is going on in his life... this is a chance of a lifetime and he needs to support his wife and soon to come child... he would never put that at risk.. but family and health come first.. and deno andrews has my respect for understanding and giving george a second chance... you need to understand that things happen.. he's a great player and hes trying to do well but these things just keep on blocking him.. - Manny

Though no explanation was needed, thank you for caring enough to provide one. Our thoughts and prayers go out to George and his family.

Man that is terrible news. Hope they get through this and have a healthy baby.

Unfortunately in times of crisis people forget about the caregiver (George) and put an awful lot of stress on him. Well meaning people most likely call on him day and night asking about his wife. Hopefully someone will help him get well so that he will be strong for his wife.

Hope Ginky and family triumph over adversity

Sorry to hear of George's misfortunes. Really hope his wife has a healthy baby, without any complications. Go Ginky!

Thank you all for caring about george mine and the babys health. i am doing well and am expecting a healthy baby soon! george is recovering too.. we have both had a very stressful year. but he has overcome many more things and this he can overcome too.
Good luck to you and Ginky. He's always been one of the most professional players around, so I figured there was an explanation for him leaving a tournament unfinished. Ginky went out of his way once to encourage me and help me capitalize on my skills, something that I won't soon forget.

Best wishes.

I wish you are George the best and hope everything turns out ok.

Athena, I'm so glad to hear y'all are doing okay. I enjoyed meeting you in Vegas, outside of the players' meeting in the hallway, as we all sat there and waited for the meeting to conclude.

Ginky is one heck of a nice fellow and is well liked by the whole pool community. Keith McCready and I wish you guys the very best.

Here's a picture of the Ginkster that I took at Snookers in Providence, Rhode Island earlier this year. On the second day of the 2-day Joss Tour tournament, Ginky arrived in the pool room deep in thought and proceeded to go to the back of the room by himself. He practiced alone for several hours and didn't chit-chat with anybody else, just focused in and got in his zone.

Well, it paid off because he won the whole tournament, defeating Allen Hopkins in the finals. Both players put on a good show for the spectators, and it was a bloody battle to the finish, with Ginky coming out on top! What a cool trophy too! :)
