Saturday: Semifinals of 2013 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship

Neither player practiced the breaks. Look at Shane, all dapper in that Irish-green shirt. Love it. Shane has perfect tableside posture, the way he addreses the ball.

Oh, I see you, Eric. I see you. And your lovely wife. :)

A little back-and-forth on this first game. Nice cut on the 2-ball in the corner pocket. Going for a 3-4 combo in the corner, looks like.

Make the 3-4 combo. Rolling up for the 5. Perfect position on the 7 in the corner. Jayson is benched, but sitting in Shane's chair instead of his own. He didn't want to move while Shane was shooting, didn't want to shark him.

Shane runs ou the first rack, after opcketnig the 9 nit he corner.

1-0, Shane.

Shane racks, no problems. Jayson didn't check the rack.

Uses the cut break. Nice open table. Ball made off the break. 2-ball hanging. All he has to do is make the one and not snooker himself. Hung the 1-rock in the corner. OMG!

Jayson to the table looking at a 1-ball duck.

Jayson is cool, calm, and collected.

Mike H. said Jayson and Shane are rooming together for this tournament. :grin-square:

Jayson runs out the rack, 1-1. Jayson Shaw will break for the second time in Rack No. 3.

I like Michael Howerton's voice.

Jayson cracks the rack and is wide open. Danny keeps saying how Jayson is supposed to shoot. Let the man shoot. Sheesh!

There's Scott Frost and Johnny sitting on the side. Scott has a big tattoo on his neck.

Shane is in trouble. He's getting punished for that miss in the early rack. Jayson is running out like a well-oiled machine.

2-1, Jayson in the lead.

Jayson breaks beautifully. Makes the 1.

Meanwhile, Van-Van v. Niels is tied up at 1-1.

Jayson is going to have to spin the 4 in the corner pocket to get position. BEAUTIFUL shot, and he got there. He's a fierce competitor.

Jayson is chewing gum. :grin-square:

Bearing down on a 6-shot cut in the corner. Now he's left himself tough on the 7. It's doable, though. He made it all right, and he got good shape on the 9.

Jayson is left-handed. 3-1, Jayson's favor.

I really like Jim Wych on the microphone. Very calming voice. Very knowledgable.

Jayson breaks, makes the 1 and the 5, leaves a tough cut on the 2. Brutal. He didn't make a legal break thought. Two balls didn't go by the side pocket.

Shane to the table. 2-ball is brutal. Shane comes with a miss. Leaves Jayson a tough shot on the 2.

Jayson banks the 2 in like it had eyes. Now Jayson is running out like a champ.

Straight-in shot on the 9, and it's now 4 games in a row for Jayson, 4-1.

Brutal. The ref made a bad call on the previous break. More balls did go past the side. It shouldn't have been an illegal break previously.

Shane at the table. Tough thin shot on the 1. Whitey will be tough to control. He made it. Leaves himself an odd shot on the 2-ball.

They said that the blown call on the break by Shaw didn't affect the outcome, but there's no guarantee that Shaw would have made that very tough shot on the 2 ball that Shane missed.

Yeah, Shane may have rather had Jayson shoot that deuce... Stupid rule especially when balls are pocketed.
