SBE how much profit

None of my business and I love the show so I hope he makes out.

On the other hand a buddy of mine was the president of a well known camera company. They displayed every year at Jacob Javits Center in NYC each year. Everything had to be wired, hung or moved by a different union. The cost was and is obscene. They would leave $2,000 signs rather than pay to have them taken down. NJ Expo is part of the NY/NJ mob controlled unions and will not be cheap.

There is 1,000 times more work and aggravation putting together a show like this than you think.

Strange you should mention this. Before I retired, most of the manufacturers I represented had to attend the Consumer Electronics Show. They finally moved out of McCormick Place in Chicago for the exact reason you mentioned. Now located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the unions still harass the vendors but not nearly as much. Plugging an amplifier in to a wall socket was a fifty dollar proposition minimum! Can imagine what the set up and tear down expenses must be for Allen  !

If Allen makes $400K off this thing every year (which I doubt), then he's one of the very few of his generation to actually earn a retirement from this game, and I don't see why anyone would begrudge him that.

How many pool players were/are sharp enough to realize they wouldn't always play like Allen Hopkins circa 1975, and planned accordingly for the future?

$293billion

There is only one person that makes that much in pool.
Buffalo Chips or whatever his name is.

I know Zero about big tournaments but that sounds like a heck of a pile. I'd be surprised it it were close to that.
If it is, good for him.

I did not go to the show last year but I was there the year before. I'm a smoker and was always out side in the smoking area. I met up with one of Allens employees who was always out there smoking also, We talk a lot as we where always both out there at the same time. He told me that Allen walks away with over $400,000. after all is said and done, I really dont care if he makes 10 times that, Allen is a great guy a good friend and he works really hard as also does his team. I don't see any one else stepping up to put on a show like this. If the pro's want to piss and moan and not show up who cares. Most of them are spoiled babys any way.

Good friend? Hopkins has thousands of friends, but I doubt that he needs one that would needlessly publicly repeat on AZB hearsay guised as "inside info" on how much he allegedly walks away with.

Also almost certainly doesn't need one of his smoker employees passing on insights (of whatever reliability) into his profit figures. No businessman needs employees or "friends" like that.

The simple answer is: not enough.

If he was raking it in every time and was coming up roses, there'd be events multiplying all over trying to copy this one. From what I see on here, there aren't.. so it's still not enough.

Excellent point. All the jealous types are all concerned that he is making too much money. Jeez Louise ... give it a rest. Your post kinda proves that maybe that's not the case!

Well said. Ive known Allen for over 30 years, he is a class act and puts on a TOP notch event every year... I dont care if he makes a million. He earns every penny. and, ya know what??? Everyone gets paid.......checks dont bounce.... Barry Burman should take lessons from Allen on how to Do The Right Thing for the players instead of screwing them over.....

Joey, my old dentist had a helicopter license and his own business jet.
I guess he thought he might want to be a pilot before he became a dentist.

He would get bored, have his receptionist cancel appointments and take his staff for a plane ride to another city for lunch.

From what he told me, his wife also liked to spend money.
