Hey JB....Schon made "Fellini style" cases during the "Runde era". I have pics somewhere.

Thanks,

Jeremy

So this brings up a question about these style of cases. Without getting too detailed I think that the timeline has Gina Cases predating Fellini with a case that is a slip cover extruded tube with an upholstered end.

Ernie's cases looked just like Fellini but were smaller. Prior to that Harvey Martin was making cases with upholstered ends but not with a flush cap.

So, we know that Viking also had these cases but when and who made them? And Schon had them but who made them? Was it Schon or someone else we already know who was selling to Schon? McDermott made the SuperMac aluminum version and I believe that they actually made it themselves. I really should send them an email and just ask.

Adams also made a version of this type of case.

So if anyone has pictures or other evidence to help fill in the gaps of the extruded tube style case feel free to post it.

John,
Who built the first cue case that was offered for sale to the public?
Just curious as I have no idea who it was. I also sent you a pm.

Best Wishes,

Steve

I just happen to notice Jim Murnak didn't appear on your list JB. Surely there's a few pic of those on here.

Bob Runde made the Schon cases. He even had the leather ends machine cut so everything lined up evenly...but he also said it was a pain and cases didn't sell that well so he unloaded them all and got out of the case business. He sold cases to some big name makers like Gus Szamboti and Richard Black to name a few....I wish I'd kept the ones I sold.

Here are a couple..a grey suede and reddish buggy whip leather...the brown one is a Fellini...you can see the difference on the ends.

Mr. Kohara,,,,,,,,

Hey John,,,,,,,

Don't forget ''Tad'',,,,

Recently on Ebay,, 2 ''Tad's'' sold , each with one of his cases...I bought the circa 1970's, it was taken to ''Tad'' himself and he put a ''circa 1970's'' on that cue and also said he built that case many moons ago,,,

The gal, Heidi told me that Tad was very happy to see such an old cue and case combination from that era.

Later pal,,,,,,,,Alan.......

Art Cantando

Here are some pics from Gian's (Drawman623) post about some cases he picked up at last year's SBE. It was a thrill for me (case geek alert!) to see this very rare Art Cantando case in person. I actually got to hear some great stories about Art from a lot of friends that were proud and honored to have known him. He was truly a one of a kind.
