What would it cost me to switch my SS joint to a ivory on my STL Ebony? Also is this crazy? I always played with a SS until I recently got a Runde with a phenolic joint and i prefer it way more. I have always wanted a Ivory jointed and this ebony cue would look awesome with one. THx

i've seen this done before. i've seen one changed from ss joint to a radial pin. honestly i wouldn't butcher that cue. you might not like the way it hits and it'll make it harder to sell if you end up not liking the new hit and decide to get rid of it. just get yousrelf a cue with a different joint

Thank you for the honest opinion, I do appreciate it. Are there any cue makers that make a ivory jointed cue that plays great but isn't super expensive. Not as concerned with fancy as just a great player. Merry widow would be fine. Any advice is appreciated. I do have a Runde SP that I love but would like to expand my collection with a another makers cue. Thx

i did this with paul mottey on a schon once
we went with a micarta instead of ivory and it produced a very great hitting cue

i suspect you will be spending a couple of hundred
the advice was probably good on the last reply

I did this to a European Adam cue . Cue lost a full oz. and really made a shooter out of it . I also changed the pin to Radial . Jim

Greg Sowder did this for a customer of mine on an STL7. They converted it to flat faced, I guess the walls of a joint for piloted shafts could crack if they are Ivory.

Alex Brick responded to this years ago and said he had converted several Schon’s to Ivory joints. Anybody have one.
