I picked up a schon STL2 tonight but the shaft I can tell is a older shaft it is the only one that I have seen that says SCHON13 on the collar does anyone have any info on this or a value on the shaft? Any help is appreciated.
Terry
they were made in 1993 only according to john at schon
1992 bob retired and evan took over and they quickly saw several knockoff shafts and thus put that on the collar in 1993 and the following year put the name on the wood
Thankx for the info guys the shaft is straight no cracks and I think it has a ivory ferrule but could be wrong on that the cue is a stl2 with cocbolo diamonds really good shape would be willing to trade the whole setup for something depending on what is it...
If your wanting to put that shaft away for possible resale one day in the future, I just received in a extra new schon shaft from the factory. PM me if your interested in buying it for your cue. Thanks
There's shafts with 13.5 also. Schon has used like 4 ferrule materials. Schon has been forth coming with all the yrs and different models- Rundy's the expert!! And still making cues!! mark
FWIW - The ferrule on that Schon 13 shaft could very well be Micarta. The old stuff. The GOOD stuff. I've had a few of 'em...and the ones with Micarta ferrules did have some wavy grain to them that looked a little like ivory...just "more yellow" in color.
Sounds like you hooked into a nice cue. Schons are great cues...and I'm a huge fan of the older ones. Both the cues AND the shafts.
Not sure if this helped, any...but there it is, anyway.
