Does anyone know the differance between an original Schon Shaft, and A Schon IV shaft, other than the name. i was looking at them on ebay and the didnt specify the differance
Thanks
Steve

i do know the early schon shafts used the yellow micarta ferrules which are in very limited supply now. whats his name took the stock with him when he left. not sure what the schon iv shafts use, probably an aegis or elforyn or something. other than that, i dont know. might of changed up the taper alittle bit, who knows. maybe someone with more knowladge of schon products will chime in.

Thanks, i've seen alot of older schon's where the ferrule is all yellowed, then again i have a 15 year old schon with the name in script on the shaft and the ferrule hasn't yellowed. who know's maybe you are right !

Okay Thanks, whats the differance in an ivory ferrule and a regular one, other thean the fact that they stay cleaner ?

the main difference is the price..lol I have a schon with both ferrules and I like the regular ferrule for playing.I seem to get more action wit the ivory ferrule [as your supposed to] but I don't like the draw I get wit the ferrule.I also have a predator 314 2nd gen shaft and this is the only shaft I use anymore...

I have both, and the iv does have an ivory ferrule. Honestly they both play the same. Same sound "ping" same cueball movement....BUT I did retapper the IV when it came in. I pulled the taper back from 10" to just under 13"<<<<SWEET! :D

Gerry<< now plays with an OB-1 on the same Schon cue.

You are talking about Bob Runde who was primarily responsible for the great playability of the early Schons. I regret ever selling any of my old Schons. Maybe the best "production" cues ever made.

If you find an older one with the yellow ferrule...don't think thats bad. Those are the premium shafts with Micarta ferrules. The ferrule alone is worth as much as the shaft...if not more.;) You can't get a better playing one than with the yellow Micarta ferrules....buy them all.

I Have 2 of those shafts, but i dont use them cause they are way to skinny.

Thanks
Steve

That'll teach you to use sandpaper.:D Think what you could get for them now if they were in good condition.;)
