I would like to get some opinions from people who have or have hit with a schuler cue.How do they hit etc.and what are they comparable to?

Lil John, are you coming to Austin again for the Texas Open? If so, let me know and I'll bring mine and you can hit with it and check it out for yourself. You will be impressed.

they can hit good. raw hit, no finesse,,,ie the hit feels very bare naked. nice action. don't waste your time getting anything other than a plain jane. the upgrade in design for what you pay isn't worth it.

btw, i'm basing this on the older schulers when ray was alive.
 
some people swear by them, do a forum search, and search rec.sport.billiards, lots of info

apparently lots of european three cushion players use them
 
I play with a Schuler Sneaky. I wouldn't like to try and compare it to anything else out there as it really has a feel all of it's own. It's solid, consistent and my particular cue hits on the soft side.

Bruin70 was correct in that I wouldn't waste any time going for anything fancy, there are better investments out there.

As far as a Schuler Sneaky goes...It's a players cue, not a collectors cue and I consider it to be my reliable weapon of choice. If you can find someone on this forum who owns a Schuler and who lives near you, it might be worth while trying to get together so you can have a test run.
 
They make about a dozen different shaft tapers, I suspect the hit of a Schuler depends very much on which shaft you are using.
 
The players I know that use Schulers are die hard fanatics. The ones I've hit with were very reliable and consistent.

A guy in our poolroom has a plain one with the euro taper and its very much like a thin Meucci. Looks well made but has a weird joint.
 
I picked up one at DCC 3-4 years ago and fell in love with it. It is the best cue I have ever played with. I have owned some pretty good cues in my day and nothing compares to the Schuler. I may be biased since I have played with mine for so long but the feel that mine has is 2nd to none. Ihave 2 shafts and one plays a little stiffer than the other. I used to use moori med on them but switched to moori quick and the cue plays better for me. It does take some getting used to. he few people I have let hit with mine says it feels soft to them but I like real well. BTW, mine has a stacked leather wrap that gives the cue a great feel as well. I have pruchased other cues as well including a Schon and Predator and just keep putting them back and using the Schuler.
