Score!!! Craigslist Huebler H-14 & Viking GTF Style Case & Key!

Linen is great--except old as your grandma's toenail fungus--but it appears to be intact and quite acceptable for normal usage. I believe this cue was manufactured around 1981--is this Cortand linen? I know I do not have a cue currently with Cortand on it and would love it if it were.

Sorry, not Cortland linen. But that's a nice old school cue.

Oops, didn't realize you had it redone. Looks nice.

All the best,
WW

Since this thread is up top I figured I would ask something again....

We have seen this model with the Hoppe ring.

Mine does not have that, but it is unusual in another regard. It has extremely thin veneers compared to all the others I have seen of this model. Has anybody ever seen that before?

Does it mean anything? Early version? Later version? Something else? Nothing?

I am curious about this.

Here it is:

When I was repairing/filling the points (which look perfect now, even with a jewelry scope) I noticed that both the blue and black veneers on this cue are double veneers. The red is a single veneer.

Not unusual at all to do double veneers, especially in that time period to give them a thicker look. They look great.

Doc, I don't consider myself a true cue afficianado, but l do like my well chosen collections of semi-cheapo cues.

When I was repairing/filling the points (which look perfect now, even with a jewelry scope) I noticed that both the blue and black veneers on this cue are double veneers. The red is a single veneer. The gloss of the finish now hides the veneer detail compared to when the cue had no finish but the double veneer is very evident with a scope. Here's some pictures that just barely expose the glue lines between the double veneers. I tried to fiddle with the color/contrast ect. but nothing really improved the glue line detail. Hopefully, they will be evident enough on the unretouched pictures to affirm my observations:

My suggestion would be to take a 25X jewelry scope to the veneers if anyone has an old Heubler like this and the glue lines become pretty evident with inspection.

Thank you so much for that!

Obviously a difference in construction as mine does not have the doubled veneers except on the outer black one. You made me take a better look at my own cue and indeed the outer black veneer is doubled.

I assumed those were just thicker veneers, thank you for clarifying that.

Huebler Cue

Send me better pics of the butt cap and bumper the only way to tell if the bumper is correct is to look at the weight bolt, the cue will date to 1983
it should be 57 inches long not 58
