Scott Lee at the Boys & Girls Club in Phoenix LAST FRIDAY

That's awesome. The boys and girls club is partially responsible for keeping me in love with the game. When I was in middle school I would play every day for a while at the downtown Tucson club. Definitely a big fan.

I went there because I often donate time at Boys & Girls Clubs all over the country. I have plans to do a pool school in Orange County next month (it was supposed to be this weekend). PM me with your contact information, and I'll be happy to come to your kids' club when I'm out there!

I work at boys and girls club of Laguna Beach Ca. How did they get him to go there.

JesPiddlin...As I mentioned, the kids and I had a great time. I talked to them about rules, table etiquette, manners, taught some fundamentals, showed a few trick shots, and played a few games. I have some students I need to get to in OK. Let me know where your club is, and maybe I can stop in there when I'm in the area!

Cocobolo Cowboy... Early this morning, I stopped by our local club to check on the cues Gene recently fixed up for them and I wondered how your club was coming along, so I was glad to find this thread, tonight. I think this is great news! Scott is such a terrific and naturally cheerful guy. We are glad to hear he is doing something like this. Pool couldn't be represented by a better person!

Scott... If you're paying attention to this thread, give us the scoop on your visit!

I hope more people will lend a helping hand to help the kids learn more about pool and contribute a little time and effort into the upkeep of their equipment. These kids need more positive role models and guidance in learning things that will help them stay focused in life and give them skills that might help them in the future.

Thanks for do the Phoenix Clinic you made a big impression on the kids, and I heard they had a BLAST.

Scott, you're a good man to spend some time with these kids and show them some pointers. Good deeds are always well remembered and rewarded. My hat's off to the Cowboy too. Good work guys...

The smiles says it all.

Scott's willingness to give to the sport (for his love of the sport) is simply amazing.
Write him...he responds immediately.
Call him...he answers.
He simply wants everyone to be successful.
Wow..what a concept for a successful teacher.
Thank you Scott.

Good Job guys! I hope this inspires several on this board (myself included) to look for opportunities to help in similar ways in our areas. :)

Thank you!!!

Nice thing you did there Scott......Kudos!!! Reading this has cemented an idea I've been tossing back and forth in my head. My fiance has a son that is physicaly and emotionally challenged.....he is 18 yrs old but functions at about an 8th grade level. He and other special kids have a place to call their own called Zach's Place and they have a pool table. I have thought about volunteering my time to teach any interested kids the basics. I have no experience in pool instruction, and other than working with special olympics in a volunteer capacity, limited experience in dealing with handicapped children. Has anyone here worked with special kids.....what pitfalls might I avoid by gleaning from your experiences????

Kids

Coco and Scott, What you are doing for these kids is great, and you both are to be commended. When kids are taught the right way to begin with, they take to it like a duck to water.

When I taught Pool about 38 years ago, I taught kids. It was so much fun for me to see my best 11 year old student run a 3 pack of 9 ball on a 9 foot table. My 2nd best student was a curly headed 10 year old that could run a 2 pack on the 9 foot. I have often wondered just how good they became later on.

Keep up with the good work, and it will eventually help elevate our sport.

Absolutely! Sounds like a wonderful idea! We've been thinking about doing some kind of class with the kids, but hadn't quite put together a "program," yet. I know they would be thrilled to have you there. They were so happy to have a cuemaker interested in caring for the few pool cues... Such a simple thing. But, to have a professional pool teacher stop in?? That would be totally awesome!

I'll pm you the contact info for our B&G club, today.

Truly a class act  Way to go Scott and keep up the good work

Scott has been an Ambassador for Pool for many years. Imagine having Him,Jerry Briesath, and Mark Wilson at the same place and time to give lessons. Priceless.

Hey Scott... I just received a phone call from the club. Janice was thrilled and said to tell you they would absolutely LOVE for you to come out and do something for the kids. She said for you to call and talk to her, or David Mason. They should be able to help you get something set up. Also, the kids are getting ready to have their winter break at school and that would make about any day a good day to do something like that. Gene said he'd take off work a day or a partial day to help out, too. He just needs to know what day, so he can get it worked out with the boss.

I believe I sent you the phone number for the club. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help out.

Hope Scott does a repete performance the next time he is in the Valley of the Sun....

We are looking forward to seeing him at the Boys & Girls Club here in Broken Arrow on the 14th of January. Trying to get things all fixed up and ready for him. :)

Way to go Scott! You have made a life long difference for those guys. It doesn`t take long, but the memories will last forever for them.

A BIG green rep your way!
