Scrimshaw Prices and Who Does it?

I was looking to add a new look to my cue, I love the hit and it plays wonderful. I just really want to add something to it and have decided on a white or white/black ringtail wrap and then adding scrimshaw to the ivory on the cue. I think I could have some cool designs added to the ivory windows.

How much does scrimshaw cost and who could I send to have it done? Also does anyone have any design ideas? Would having laser engraving be a better route to go and cheaper? I am not thinking of putting pictures or anything but just some nice designs on it. I also was unsure if I would have to have the refinish totally removed before sending it off for this work to be done.

Here are some more pics, I was thinking of perhaps adding notched diamonds or bar bells in the ivory diamonds using scrimshaw and in the windows a more intricate design. :smile:

As a former owner of scrimshaw cues I have seen some wonderful pictures and designs. BUT your cue looks wonderful as it is. If I were you I'd reconsider changing anything. Or at least take a long time until you're sure which design / picture you'd like. Different people charge different amounts. a REALLY nice picture can be QUITE expensive. You get what you pay for.

Thanks Bill for the compliments and the cue does look very nice but I just want to add a touch more to it, nothing to wild, maybe some barbells or notched diamonds in the ivory diamonds and a nice design in the windows, here is an example of something I thought was nice that was added to a cue at a later time and gave it a fresh look.

I recall that post too Terry, the dude was just a bit south of us in Minnesota or the Dakotas.

Yes the finish would have to be removed before you send it to her.
