I have an Olio 9 ft table with 3 piece slate. I have had it recovered a few times but one seam always pops a little. It is perfectly flat until the rails are bolted down. Then it moves.

The slates are only screwed down around the edges. My question is....

Would it help to drill and screw the slate down across the playing surface at the seams? There is a cross support beam under each seam.

Cut 3 2 inch bye 2 inch pieces of index cards slide in seams use as a wick with super glue! Cut index cards flat bondo and sand seams :thumbup:
 
If the seam pops after bolting down rail it seems likely that you may have a warped rail. When you have the felt off the table lay the rail on the table and check for gaps on the bottom of rail to slate. If I remember correctly the cross members on a Gold Crown are not fastened to the frame, they just drop down into receivers, not sure about the Olios. If I screwed the slate to the cross member it would pull the cross member up, not hold the slate down. At any rate it sounds to me like the problem is the rail, not the way the slate is fastened but take my info with a grain of salt, I am not a table mechanic, just trying to help you out since you are not getting much activity on your question.

I did the index cards and the super glue..... it still popped

First, find out why its popping.
Something is probably a little warped or perhaps not seated correctly.
Is the popped slate moving up, down, or sideways? Find the point of pressure and/or the fulcrum of the leverage. In other words, something is pressing down in one spot to make something pop up somewhere else. Or vice versa.
If no reason can be determined, dowel the slates or add a steel plate across the seem.
 
Check to see if the slate that "pops up" doesn't have a shim underneath it that causes the slate to bow when the slate screws are tightened.
