Just wondered what you all thought of the $1500 Searing. Too much$ or too little. Just trying to get a feel for his values.

Searing

The first post was a 900.00 starting bid .
Then they ended it and relisted it with a 1500.00 buy it now.

Searing Cue

Price was a little high considering the other thing the buyer had ever sold was a go kart with a bad carburetor....

at least he described it as such. it is definitely hard to sell an exspensive cue on ebay with little feedback and none of it pertaining to cues.

I believe if it isn't signed, it is not made completely by Dennis. This cue looked like a conversion or blank by someone else, or I would have taken a shot at it.

From all this I take it that IYO that $1500 was all the money for this cue? I wasn't the buyer by the way I offered the guy 1000 right when the auction started. He claimed offers of 1200,1350 and 1500. I guess he wasn't kidding.

For your info, Dennis always uses his logo "S" on all his cues( except for some in the very beginning when he first started cuemaking) Dennis does not sign and date conversions. The $ 1,500 was a good deal.

It's amazing to me that someone would pay $1500 for a sneaky pete cue with an "S" on the butt, but that's just my opinion.
My feelings exactley, you can do alot better for your money elsewhere.:D

would the price be right if Gus Szamboti and George Balabushka made it? my point being any product made by great makers that have a very limited production is always going to bring premium prices. if you take the facts that Dennis hasn't made many cues, his production of them is going to keep the same trend, and that he is one of the most sought after makers you can see why the cue could be a bargin.

I've owned about 50 cues (including cues from your good friend Keith Josey) and I think I can recognize craftsmanship when I see it and if you saw that same exact cue without the "S" on the butt cap how much would you pay for the cue? It looks like a house cue that had a butt cap and joint installed on it to me.

A comparable Balabushka or Szamboti cue would cost many thousands more,so there is no comparison. The one thing you leave out that makes all the difference is the test of time,of which the great cuemakers you mentioned, have withstood.

Didn't you know that if you jack the prices up on your cues and then won't answer the phone.. and won't answer emails.. that you automatically become a cue making legend?
