Easy 3k.

A quick refinish and a letter of authenticity from Dennis explaining what went into the cue as a young cue maker. Boom.

I’ve seen one like this with ring work go 3.5

You’re knowledgeable with cues. You should know all cues are not worth it. Name, goodwill and reputation determines value and of course what is someone willing to pay.

His sneakies have been sitting unsold at 2500, but ok

I’ll give the buyer $1500 and sell it to ya for $2K…he can double his money and keep the case. I’ll make $500 and you can flip it for $3K and make a toadskin for yourself. As always I won’t ask for pp or shipping fees 🤙🏼

Just throwin a shade of light on the thread 😆

Any cue…..Searing or Joe Smuck cue maker…….is only worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

On any given day, that can change and it does. IMO, it’s possible this cue isn’t built any better than
a simple design cue from a different heralded cue maker. People are essentially paying for his name.

It may be a scam but for the amount spent, half you guys hating on it would spend that on gambling and scratch offs and then wonder why you can’t rub 2 nickels together. Also the only person that needs to see a tracking number besides the two in the transaction is noneya or for those of you still trying to understand, nunya
Who's nunya, is she hot?

Well - for the guys who wanted “proof” by seeing the buyer’s tracking number - he just showed the world! - Delivered!
This site or people in general don’t like a good score. Nobody would care but the fact he picked it up for so cheap and its true value upsets a lot of people.

It probably plays fantastic and could be a daily shooter.

When asked what you shoot with. You can casually say, “Searing”.

A letter of authenticity from Dennis and have him explain his thought process and story about this cue with specs. It skyrockets from there.

You have to admit.
This place is special!

I'm so happy for this guy! I've been a picker for 30 years as a hobby and have had so many great vintage/ antique finds I can't even begin to enumerate all of them- of course, a good number were billiard related- but not the majority - hats off to him for finding, recognizing, taking a chance on an unknown seller, and making a score- that's what it is all about- isn't it? I took my lumps for years learning about every conceivable collection category - I met my share of honest people and also my share of the most greedy and deceptive people on earth.

Anyone who begrudges the buyer, or loathes the seller should be ashamed- celebrate the win, and also celebrate that not all sellers are looking for pigeons, some guys just want what is a fair price to them, based upon their initial cost.

You have to remember that many pool players are classless trash and exceedingly envious, it shows in threads like this all the time

Definitely an amazing pickup! Congrats to the buyer and very generous for the seller to offer such a deal! I thought it was a scam, but nice to see that good things can happen, even in the pool world! Lol.

Yea the seller is actually looking to sell a cue unlike some on here. Reasonably priced for a shooter and sold immediately. Some dealers are stuck holding cases of cues while some get rid of them.

There shouldn't be a reason why the most popular pool website's marketplace is so slow. Same cues. Did people just stop selling here because nobody was buying and it was due to their very own pricing.

I'm not sure that it was just "reasonably priced," but rather well below market for a Searing. I'm sure there's plenty of people who would have paid at least $1k for that cue. The cue sold because the seller left dollars on the table/didn't maximize his profit, either as a gesture of kindness, just wanted to get rid of it quickly, or didn't know what he could get for it. In any event it was a helluva pickup and hope the seller is happy with his decision too.
I agree that cues sit on here for a while, but if a seller isn't in a rush to get rid of their cues and wants to get their money back, then so be it. I do miss the AZ days when there were a ton of new cues being listed. Even FB seems stale now.

Yea.

It is either people sell less here so they stop selling here. Or people not buying because of price which will push sellers elsewhere.

It was moving pretty fast when I first joined. Some really nice cues. I just browse the wanted section and PM the sellers. If they fulfill a request and buyer declines then I will try to buy that way.

Also there are mostly carbon and LD shaft requests which h tells you where the cue market is heading.

I find that this site has two very distinct types of cue sellers. One is the person who does not consider selling cues as a "business" - they either have a cue or two that they no longer need or use or want to replace, and just want to get a decent return on their initial cue investment, they may be cue hobbyists - like myself, or just look to get back what they paid on a cue , or reasonable current cue market appreciation.

The other half of the cue sellers that I see here are clearly looking at this all as a " business" - their cues are initially priced seemingly very high, even given current cue market conditions, they demand buyers to cover ALL their selling fees, shipping, etc- even though these same sellers are not paying the 15% commission to an e bay site, AND these same sellers will look to knock down a buyer's requested price well below a market reasonable ask.

I don't judge either seller. it is a free market. The rule is always buyer beware in business. Some are true selling sharks - they look to make a killing on each sale and to "kill" what they perceive as a " weak " seller. That is life- you learn to swim in a big ocean, you retreat to safe waters, or you sink.

This SEARING cue deal was truly a micro view of sites like this, some seem pissed off that they could not " rob" an honest guy just looking to get his money back on a cue, some imply that he was a "fool" to sell at this price, some immediately suspect the seller as perhaps a thief, some PM the honest seller- hoping to "cash-in" should the old guy have another cue gem in his closet that they can "steal" away.

AND we have those here who just are happy for the seller- got his desired price immediately, and the buyer- someone who trusted, followed the rules, and is surely equally happy with his new cue-

This ALL calls for a celebration that this site exists for ALL of us!!! --- Thank you AZBilliards!

On a positive note, while I realize pool players have a bad stigma attached to us, most, if not all the folks I've met and dealt with were good guys. I went to the SBE and bought a cue and case (different dealers). I believe I got a really good price on both. The dealers I bought from didn't appear like they were trying to make a killing in profit. To me, they seemed like guys that just loved pool and were looking to eek a few bucks out of the hobby they enjoy.

Personally, my motto is to try to break even on cues. If I can buy a cue, enjoy it for a few years and then sell if for the same price, that's a win for me. If I lose a little, I could live with it. I'm pretty sure I have never sold a cue for more than I paid for it; if I did, it was because I forgot what I paid.

Six or seven years ago I sold a really nice SW for what I paid for it probably ten years prior. Apparently, I wasn't keeping up with the SW market because it sold REALLY fast and I had several back-up buyers waiting for the sale to fall through. Oh well, it was still a win in my book.
