Did anyone hear of Shannon getting robbed in his room last year?

We all know about T.W. and the robbery at the waffle house, but i'm just wondering if Diamond has taken any steps to add extra security to the venue or not.

Scoundrels and Scallywags Beware!

Hi, SUPERSTAR! I heard it from several very reliable sources that there will be an underground security in full force at this year's Derby City Classic.

Tony Watson was robbed at gunpoint at a Waffle Shop nearby JOB's pool room in Nashville in the wee hours of the morning after he flashed his bank roll in full view at the pool room. Not a good thing to do when you're on the road (IMO). And according to the rumor mill I heard, Shannon's robbery occurred in Georgia.

Scoundrels and scallywags, remember this: Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

All Derby City Classic attendees: Enjoy the show! :)

Security at the DCC is limited at best. Last year they let in prositutes and their pimps at night hanging around the bar and gambling areas.

That did it. I just quit my day job and I'm headed to the DCC! Pimps and hos lookout...

I've heard all kinds of rumors that the scoundrels had a list of some of the bigger 'backers' as key targets last year. Also a rumor of a thief in the parking lot dressed up as a security guard. Hopefully, these are nothing but rumors. I would think that the DCC should be able to afford to hire a few off duty Louisville police officers for added security.

The Derby City Classic will have a strong security presence on the grounds of the Executive West Hotel at all times, in addition to the hotel security.

Here in D.C., robbers have been targeting people in large hotels, waiting in the lobby for an unsuspecting victim to enter the elevator, preferably alone. It has been on the local news.

Anybody who is carrying any amount of CASH should always be careful no matter where you are, to include the Derby City Classic.

Even with the increased awareness of the added security in place for this event, it is still wise to keep your eyes open. It doesn't matter if you're in Louisville, Washington D.C., or Boone, North Carolina.

Common Sense

Don't " Ever" flash your wad or your rod !!!!!! I guess you just learn that on the mean streets in the city. In the DC area, they will kill you for fifty cents, your shoes, or your coat. Dam, a big wad is like the mother load to the low lifes.

Were you there last year? I've had a booth every year. There was 1 robbery last year...in the parking lot! But the rumor mill had people being robbed in their rooms, the elevators, the bathrooms, and anyplace else they could think of. Greg has beefed up security this year, hiring many off duty Louisville policemen. Insofar as prostitutes and pimps, I saw no more or less than at any large tournament of this type, or convention. They go were the money and action is.

Robberies have been around as long as...people have had something worth stealing. All you can do in minimize your exposure/ risk.

I heard about Weenie Beenie (70's?) and a friend, Leon. They got forced into a their car, driven out to the woods, robbed (pants too, so much for the leg wallet) and left.

Yes, I was there last year. Also a few cues were stolen. Goto www.cueaddicts.com they have a picture and information on a Keith Josey cue that was stolen. Pimps and prostitutes are theives and should have been kicked out ASAP! No doubt that these are some of the people who have access to the rooms and then be part of the robbery. What is a person going to tell the police? I had a hooker in my room and she robbed me or her pimp robbed me?

Wow...I bet you can just look at people and tell that they are pimps and psostitutes. Also, I guess we now know who stole the cues...pimps & prositutes! Yes, there were some cues stolen. Something that has never happened at another tournament, show, poolroom, or bar. We all know that no poolplayer ever stole a cue, so watch out fot those pimps and prostitutes. Since you can identify pimps, prostitutes, theives, and maybe drug dealers??? on sight, please point them out to hotel security and demand that they be kicked out immediately. Better yet, just bring some rope so you can string them up in the galley.

Do us all a favor and stay away from the DCC this year. It is BS like this has some leary of attending the tournament. This person seems to have intimate knowledge of pimps, prostitutes, thieves, and a fertile imagination to boot. Clean up Cleveland first!

Thanks for the info. Reason i bought up Shannon was because....Frankly, i didn't believe it. Was just checking.

The Derby has always been the pool gem of the year if you ask me. BUT...you never know. Scumbags follow the money.

Just thought that since the tournament seems to get bigger and bigger every year, that there might be a security issue.

I remember a guy watching me play backgammon for hours in the hallway for a big enough wager, and when the doubling cube went crazy a couple times, and i won, this guys eyes lit up. Needless to say, he was "hanging" around me for a couple o days. Sweating my matches...and lingering around me, till i had to use the riverboat as a broke excuse when i asked someone to lend me 10 bucks in front of his face. Just to get him off my back!
When he thought i was tapped out, he soon stopped following me around.

First of all Mike, do you live life with blinders on? Who would have better access to rooms then prostitues? I NEVER mentioned anything about theives, drug dealers or pimps and hookers stealing cues, did I? No I didn't.
Mike, last year the DCC, some of my friend were approached by these prosititues and pimps near the bar and green room. One of my friends is a former Cleveland police detective and he did point out to hotel security about the problem, weather, hotel security acted on this is, who really knows.

Mike you need to pull your head out of your ass, take your blinders off and wake up and smell the coffee. Mike you are the one who pointed out that cues were stolen and people were robbed in their rooms....Mike, can you put 2 & 2 together? Yes, Mike, events like this for the greater part come off without at hitch. And yes, Mike there are all kinds of theives and crimminals at these events, some obvious and some not, but having mulitple robberies and these events should cause some conern with hotel security and make the patrons of the hotel be more alert...

But SuperStar, didn't want to find out either way... but I am sure he let his friends or road partner(s) about this person and to keep an eye on him...

If there are 400 pool players and 5 prostitutes in a hotel where a cue or money is stolen, the prostitutes would certainly NOT be my first suspects. More likely some pool player trying to get money so he could afford a prostitute...

There is no question, that some pool players are theives and are desprite for money. However, some of the patrons that are robbed are most likley not going to tell the police that a prositute robbed them in there room infear of being arrested for soliciting the act....I am just saying they are part of the mix that security needs to watch out for.
