how many of you have been out right robbed by someone from azb

payed for something and not receive the item

Alanvo is obviously a sociopath that saw an opportunity to take advantage of a guy in Croatia.
Hundreds and hundreds of deal are completed without a hitch on AZ, and the Alanvo deal is rare.
I didn't read any of the Dennis Searing stuff, but you would have to be living under a rock to not know there are issues with him.

I have completed hundreds of deals with AZers, and the only attempt to rip me off was
by the notorious Bryan Kozy, and I blame myself for getting lulled into thinking
everybody is cool.
I would of known what a criminal Bryan Kozy is if I would of done just a little bit of research.

I send everything with signature confirmation if I am paid as goods via PayPal.

I do not send goods without payment.

I pay via PayPal with a credit card.

I am always covered.

I have dealt with some notorious scammers but they couldn't touch me.

I had the police at Aaron Painters door when he tried to rip off both myself
and RunScott on the same grossly mis represented, and beat to $hit cue.
(pre I-trader days on the forum)

We got our money back, but it damn near took a beat down on
that used car whore.

Otherwise, most AZer's are reasonably decent to deal with who have
any established I-trader count.

I have had 3 bad experiences. One I got shipped the wrong cue, took some doing to get it right. Another guy told me a sneaky was one thing, and it was another. Value difference was about 50 dollars, and I just let it go with the knowledge I'll never do business with them again. And one cuemaker, who I had a deposit out to, who didn't deliver anywhere close to his own chosen time frame, and the cue wasn't really close to what I wanted.

I just decided not to do business again with any of them. When I order a cue, I don't really care how long it takes to get made. Just don't want to hear "I'm almost done, and will ship it in 2 weeks" and then it takes another 2 years.

Good ole Aaron, shoddy work and got protected for a long time. Think more people got banned over him than any of the other thieves.

All my experiences have been great here at AZ. A number of years ago when I had first joined I inquired about Buddy Hall's book and my desire to read it.

However, as most of you know they aren't readily available to purchase and even then are quite pricey. One AZ'er (I wish I could remember the person but sadly, I have forgotten), went out of their way to ship my their copy for free so I could read it and trusted me to send it back when finished.

That was one of the coolest things anyone had ever done and certainly took me by surprise. But I read it and sent it back in a matter of a few weeks with a $20 bill inside. There are good people here that will go out of their way to help.

Unfortunately, this site has grown by an enormous magnitude in the last 6-7 years increasing the likelihood of being scammed, conned, ripped off, etc. But I have dealt with some good people here and hope my good fortune continues.

One good AZ'er posting in this thread whom I've deal with is Kid Dynomite. And is a solid person to deal with as well.

But part of my good fortune is that I deal with people who have a long active history here and known in the pool world. Shying away from unknown people probably helps keep me from encountering cons.

I have quite a few transactions. Never a problem. Everything that I have received has been as advertised. USPS and Canada Post have never let me down either.

Altho, many have been from the guys who hang in the Machinery Forum. Had a couple of bad actors there at one point also. So, no Forum is immune. Mess up once there and your selling career is over. No second chances.

When I became a member and started buying a few things, these rip off threads seemed to be few and far between.

Only takes a few rotten apples, I guess. Unfortunately they seem to be able to inflict enuff damage before they get outed.

A short run for the easy money when they could do transactions decently and continue to make money from the billiard scene.

Some people seem to be hard wired for that type of action. Maybe it gives them a Rush.

Have had great run-ins except one several years ago. Answered a listing on an Omen merry widow, decided on an acceptable price and paypaled the money that day.. Few days later and no response. Finally track down some posts from the seller on the board talking about the action he had coming up this weekend. He finally gets back to me with a hard luck story of needing the money for Christmas money, don't have enough to ship.... we both live in GA.... I called him out on his posts about upcoming action and he shipped the cue the next day. Shady dealings from a guy with the Lord's name in his screen name.

Hangemhigh....undelivered, 40 year old shaft blanks, undelivered new LD ferruleless shaft/cash, playing shaft(to match ringwork) unreturned.

Had pretty good rep till it hit the fan.

Well if it makes you feel better, I received a few of those shafts (out of curiosity) and would be happy to send them to you. They are just that good.

Good enough to give away??? Because they were about an inch and a half short for modern 59 inch shafts?

So maybe I didn't get as 'shafted' as I thot.;)

Thanks for the kind offer...shaft or tomato stake, shaft or tomato stake? Or wait.....firewood.:p

It's always something right?

Semi-seriously...how was the grain? tight? many rings per inch? old honey yellowed? Mine were too short that I sent back...never got made whole.

I forgot about him
Hangemhigh is a true con artist, and I'm sure he is back under another alias.

I didn't even bother measuring them. That's how nice they were. Taught me a good lesson, if someones selling wood, there is probably a good reason.

Fortunately, for people selling cue supplies, they get outed fairly quickly.

Altho, a few or more are going to be hurt in the process.

Hang em seemed to be good for quite a while and then changed. He is not the only one. I am sure that I am not the only one who has wondered what makes a person go that way.

Outside influences perhaps. Gambling, Drugs are perhaps two. Need that quick fix so have no choice but to go down that road.

If someone finds themselves in that Eddy circling the drain, they don't seem to have a problem messing with other peoples money.
