I had an inquiry from a member in Indonesia asking if I shipped overseas. Just wondering what the downside is? What can and does go wrong? It is not a high dollar cue, just a $200 Joss shooter.

Lemme know what I don't know:grin:

Hi I have sold several sets of j/ps and a couple cues to Indonesia . Everything went well except one package with 2 sets of J/ps never got there , and Of course they never got returned . Absolutely a waist of time putting a return address on anything . I do western union on most now . GL Jim

There is an inherent problem with shipping internationally with PayPal payment
Even if the country is on the short list of those that have confirmed addresses, in order to be protected against chargeback disputes, you must be able to provide PayPal with direct online verifiable signature delivery confirmation
The is no USPS method that will provide that
The FedEx and ups methods that do are very expensive
There is no way around this, if your buyer disputes the charge and the seller can't provide PayPal with direct online signature confirmation it is case closed with the seller the loser every single time.

There are other problems that have to be dealt with but they probably wouldn't be too critical in the case of a $200 cue.

Paypal overseas

If he wants to pay with Paypal , let him do it for "services" not "goods". Then you do not enter any tracking numbers, no chargeback ect. Otherwise bank wire payment only.

I have shipped into Asia many times, just let the buyer take the risk for loss or damage, because you cannot insure it there.

If he can't trust you for $200 then it just isn't worth it.

One chargeback will forever scorn you against Paypal. The buyers CC company decides the case and the seller loses 99.9% of the time. When the payment is cancelled, it's hard to get the merchandise back. Nobody ensures that it is returned and sellers can lose the money and the merchandise.

The problem is how you receive payment, if they pay with paypal and the payment turns out to be fraudulent paypal will expect you repay the amount. It happened to me around 3 years ago, I sold an item on ebay to a buyer in China. They paid me with paypal and all seemed well, around 6 months later paypal froze my account because the payment was made with a credit card which I was not told at the time. I thought if paypal approved the payment that I was good to go well I was wrong and I had to pay the money back even after 6 months, it was only $139 but it still sucked.

I would say whatever payment you except must be Iron Clad before you ship. Even then the only way I would ship was either UPS or FedEx depending upon which one ships to that country and make sure to insure the item for the full amount. To my experience sometimes they will let insure an item and sometimes they will not, I have no idea why except that they may have had problems in the past.

To me it isn't worth the trouble more, unless I know the person I am shipping the item too.

Good Luck
