Selling Cues without Pictures

I look through the For Sale section every now and then and am just wondering if people buy cues that are advertised without photos of the cue? Personally I need to see what I am buying first. However, everyone is different, so can anyone tell me why they would do it?

Dean seems to be a standup guy, close to 250 positive Itrader, with zero bad references and a good taste in cues. I think pair that with his ability to tell a story, plus the excitement of getting a surprise, all comes together for the guy. Been a few deals he posted that I later saw pics of the cues and was kicking myself.

Not sure about the others who do it.

I believe the OP is asking "In General", not any one seller specifically

I think Dean is the only one I have seen selling without pictures, some people have difficulty posting pics, but they will email or text them. Can you think of anyone besides Dean hustling without pics in an intentional manner?

Posting pics on this site is not super easy. So while you might not see the photos listed in the thread, people that list them will provide photos via email or text. I don't recall coming across anyone ever actually trying to sell without any photos available, even Dean has found ways to provide pics in most cases. Specs on the other hand, are a different story, which I think are just as important, but most don't seem to feel the same way apparently.

Don't give a rodent's behind about reputation without pics. Don't care who the seller is. Just my take on this, nothin else.

If I wqs in the market for a player, I would be more out to buy a cue without pics that met my favorite specs over a cue with tons of pics that didn't meet my specs.

Again, a cue that is a player and not considered a collectable is IMO easier to sell with more desirable specs to the buyer.

Then again, it never hurts to have both.....fav specs + pics.....

It.all.boils down to who is selling and who is buying, regardless of the reason.

I bought sight unseen from Dean for several reasons.

Character. Integrity. Reputation.

No questions asked bulletproof refund policy.

He has stuff for sale that nobody else has, this often includes the maker.

He exceeded my expectations.

i have met a lot of nice people on here over the years

many have left AZ for some reason,i keep
hoping we build back up

I didn't write the question with one person in mind,I have often seen people ask to email for pics etc. Oh well forget about it.

I don't live close to a shipping outlet. If i buy ANYTHING that i have to return its is a royal pain in the ass. I've got a Mezz cue that plays as good or better than anything i'm gonna see on here. I'm NOT a cue buyer anytime soon and if i do buy one it will not be sight unseen. If i was to buy a cue from deano i'd just drive down to BigD and get it in person and then go eat killer Mexican somewhere. ;)

When quoting your original post, the bold text is the part being addressed.

It reads like you are asking from a buyer's point of view, which was offered.

Don't forget about it, Harold. It is a good question. Others will have their reasons, also.

Deanoc has it down to science, without pictures. Great pictures help with sales, but seeing some of the Cue for sale in the sales section. Tell me Cue collect has become passé.

Remember 10 years ago a Searing, Tad, Prewitt, Tascarella, or other I demand Cue, would be post & sold before an hour was up.

there was just a cue posted here on az for well over $10k and while it did have some nice pics there were many important specs missing. To me, I must have a complete description on which to base my buying decisions and that def includes pictures.

Myself, I use a selling template and so when I fill it in, a prospective buyer will know the condition in great detail, what it looks like with a series of pics, and all specs and materials.

To me, when I'm selling something I want to be respectful of people's time and the fact that they are considering sending me what is usually a fair amount of money, I want them to know everything they can, up front.

Funny, I'll bet a g-note on a ball game or pool match but won't buy a cue sight unseen. I think it's because I know what I want in a cue and prefer to decide for myself what I'll buy without any elements of surprise. ;)

best,
brian kc
